What is with new trap tags u buy. The engraving is so shallow an thin. No dip or paint on them. Yet very hard or impossible to read tag after a 1 season

I have no complaints with the ones I got from Melby's. They have been dipped and are still easy to read.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I bought a box of 100 8 years ago for about $20 and while they are oxidized, I unrolled one the other day just for the fun of it and can still read everything. I was thinking I might need to replace them as a precaution, but they’re fine. I roll mine on a link of the chain
Even my DP tags that stay exposed are legible.

You need to buy STAMPED tags. not engraved ones. BIG difference

Have had great luck with Larry A. Finch at traptags.com. Heavy duty copper (or brass).

I just went and counted I have 29 left so probably time to order soon.

I can still read mine that have been on some of the traps since 2013

now if I could just remember who I ordered them from

I even have the bubble mailer they came in but the ink faded off the label ridding around in the tool box of my truck all these years.

yeah , Finch , that was where I ordered them from.

I just looked at their website 18 for 50 , but when you order more the per unit cost keeps coming down

makes me think just order 500 and I might never need to order again

trap tags aren't just for traps you know
extension cords , corded tools , all sorts of stuff anything you might want to attach identification too.

we only have to have our DNR # on them which only takes 1 line , so I have mine and my son's and my cell#

Probably have had Larry Finch stamp around 3,000 traps tags for me over the years.

Both brass & copper, & they are always deeply stamped, legible,
& accurate, and stay that way indefinitely.

I would recommend Larry Finch for any & all your trap tags needs.

Also did I mention that they are very affordable ?

I’ve got the Larry finch tags and they get hard to read after a few years of water trapping.

In PA you can get an ID number from the game commission. This saves space on tags. You can make that # very big to fill the whole tag. Ask your state about it

TILL THAT DAY.....
