I am glad you made it back and hopefully you didn't injure the only remaining breeding pair of mosquitos in the North. For what it is worth, we made the switch from aluminum canoes to several different brands of Kevlar at work quite a few years ago. Now keep in mind, we are ROUGH on canoes and throwing gas cans, hose fittings and chainsaws in them did not work out well. When I am 5 portages in I would rather have a heavy aluminum canoe than a fancy lightweight one with a big hole in the bottom of it.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Snowbank and Disappointment get quite a bit of fishing pressure.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Kayaking has taught me a couple of things. 1 is that I am not the bull I once was and 2 they have ultra light gear that is quite impressive. If there was a 3rd lesson it would be that they let you pay plenty for it.

How were the bugs? Did you miss having me as a chaperone? It sounds like it was something I would not have minded missing.

Nineteen college girls are having a party next door to me this coming weekend. I think I will enjoy chaperoning that more.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Back in the day you had to be able to carry 299lb on your back or you wouldnt be hired.

Buying pre owned is a good idea on certain items.

Knowing nothing else about it, a lake named Disappointment would not be one I would be attracted to fish. Where does the name come from?

I bought a used Kevlar northwind solo I think weighs 35lb from an outfitter. It was fair condition and a great deal.. My plans changed and I'm already back up here....well I fished here in two harbors today and headed to ely in the morning. I have till Wednesday but it's gonna be another cool, wet trip. Looking at available permits but may try some lakes outside the bwca. I got all my backpacking gear and canoe, but I also pulled my pop up camper. Glad you had a good trip!
