Wife and daughter picked up a new pup while I have been away from work. Another German shepherd, going to want an e collar for training. I haven't keep up with e collars since I sold my bird dogs in 08 after my son was killed. I'm sure there have been changed in technology over the years. What's the recommendation to look into?

Garmin is the only way to go if you want a tracking collar. If you’re not looking for a tracking collar check out Dogtra.

I had a dogtra I ran on my Jagd. He did not go out of the house often without it on, except in the winter some. It worked for 16 years over 3/4 the days of the year

I've had a Garmin Sport Pro for the last 8-9 years. It's an excellent controller/collar with some extra features that I like. You can run up to three collars off one controller.

My favorite bonus feature is the built-in lights. They are bright LED's that let me see where on the property my dogs are at night. The dogs can no longer hide in the dark thirty feet away and not respond when I call them back inside and they're not ready. LOL It also helps my older lab to see and navigate the deck steps.

They are about $250.00 for a controller and one collar. They are waterproof and durable. I consider it money well spent.

Eh...wot?

I use sportdog. For those who don't know,if your dog doesn't get excited and super pumped when he sees your e-collar, you're not using it right! [Linked Image]

Totally agree, love Dogtra but for a tracking combo I would go with Garmin. Also the Garmin has satellite technology (Inreach)

I activate inreach on mine for the fall as there’s not much service where I bird hunt, it’s well worth the money.

I disagree. I have a dogtra and absolutely love it as a training AND tracking collar.

For those of you saying otherwise, what do you dislike about the tracking features?
