Best deal I ever got was MTP had some Bridgers that had gotten wet in the box and started rusting. Can’t remember how much they were but they were selling them as is for cheap. My son and I both jumped on that deal. Just keep shopping around.
The only experience I have is with Duke and the Bridgers and both have held every coon caught…even with entanglement.

Paying for quality only hurts once!

I have used Dukes, Z-traps,and the Original Lil Griz DP traps - they all work just as well as the other. I do prefer the Z trap as it comes with a push pull trigger and I am not sure if the others do.

Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure

I have used Little Griz, Dukes, & Coon Daggers to pound coon.

While all have worked well, COON DAGGERS worked the best !!! laugh

Z-traps were junk, not even worthy of scrap metal !!!

Keep checking Trap Shed. Even if you can only find a few at a time the prices are usually pretty good.

Then watch for sales at the major trap supply retailers.

Can anyone even find any new White Z-traps? I have been looking for a dozen or two more. I agree with Swamp Wolf. I run dozens of Z-traps every year with no issues. I much perfer the push pull tigger. The key is to only fill your bait at or just above the trigger. When I first started using them I had a few toe catches when filling the 3/4 full of cat food. Pull only triggers you can fill them as full as you like.

This..^^^^^^ Yessir.

Ztraps website has them but they are now $155/doz. Best place to get em is a convention. Bought 5 dozen directly from Ztraps at their booth at the NTA about 4 or 5 years ago...$100/dozen.

Option B is to put a WTB (want to buy) on Trap Shed on T-man. Might be some guys would make you a deal on a few dozen used. And would not limit my choices to just DP's. There is a guy on ebay selling a lot of Northwoods 1 1/2 coil springs. Several listings.

Missed my chance at snagging a bunch of Coon Daggers a few years back. Does anyone know if Carliss made those himself or had skilled help that would still know how? Who owns the rights and equipment used to make them?

Remember, it not just the prices of the trap(s), it's also the cost of shipping

The diablo traps work fine. I run a couple of dozen of them and will probably get more. I catch a lot of coons with them. And love the easy clean out feature.

At this point, a COON DAGGER dog proof is akin to a

Honus Wagner baseball card, a 1909 S VDB Lincoln wheat penny,

or The Hope Diamond.......nearly unobtainable at any cost !!!

Unfortunately, I believe the production of Coon Daggers ended
when Carlis Stevens passed on. frown

grow organically buddy , start with some , take half what you make and put it back in traps and gear.
too many business go all in on stuff then are out of money when they realize they maybe didn't need that stuff but needed different stuff that they hadn't thought of when they started the business.

how many do you have currently?
I don't know about diablo.
Bridgers are nice and Dukes work fine I have some of each
watch shipping and know the reputation of who you are buying from , if they price looks too good to be , there is probably a catch.

how is Penn for nuisance work , do you need a license or can a land owner just pay you might get some folks with chicken coops want them cleared out.

I just bought a dozen new Dukes at Rondy a few weeks ago 150 cash they come with a mid chain swivel which is nice and wasn't on some of the older ones.
now those traps have paid for themselves already but I got them to do a damage control job.

how are you getting to 100 traps to check them ?

it is hay season , any one need help with hay ? milking is around 4 hours a day I am guessing ? can you find another job? mow lawns or find other odd jobs?

in any case putting all your money in traps before your running some traps you might find out during school you don't have time to run 100 trap line and 48 might be all you can get run in day and do school.

Are you still in school?
If so doubt 200-500 coon is reachable. Lot of work not to mention the time involved with those numbers. Good luck Buy you a dozen. Go from there

Why DP's? You are buying a trap you can not catch fox in. I would buy 1 1/2s and use them for coon and fox.
