What is wrong with Tracker boats. I see alot them for sale. I like the looks of them, but, dependability is most important to me.
I've always had good luck with Monark boats. Hard to find one in decent shape.
Needing one 18 -19 feet. Had a 17ft. But had a narrow beam which made it very rockey.

So i need your opinions on Bass Trackers?

Thanks

I've been thinking about getting one. Nothing wrong with them, they're just a mass produced boat at an entry level price point. You can get a classic right now for 15k new. It'll be worth 10k after your first outing and 5k in 15 years. I'm looking for a near perfect shape 10 year old one for 5k or less.

I have a 1648 Jon. Haven't had any issues with it since I got it about 17 years ago.

Before you buy sit in one for awhile. A friend had one and it was the most uncomfortable fishing boat I’ve ever been in. It would not float level. I don’t know the model.

I knew there had to be an issue with them. Too many for sale. Hardly anyone sells a quality well built boat.
I'm partial to Monark and Triton aluminum boats.
I will keep searching. I'll find one that isn't trashed.
Thanks for all you chimed in.

Lund still makes a solid boat, not sure what the availability of them is in your area. They hold value well if they are kept up and are well thought of in these parts.

Tracker boats are entry level boats they are cheap in every way. For some people it works, but for the long run almost any other brand is better. Plus they tend to underpower them to get the price down and add low end electronics, etc.

Around here Lund is king. Extremely well-built and very high resale value.

I bought a 1996 Lund 1775 in 2014 for $7500, sold it last month for $7500. 10 years of use and it cost me nothing. I have bought and sold quite a few other boats of varying brands and nothing holds the value of a Lund in the upper Midwest. Right now my main two boats are a 1750 Alumacraft with a 140 Suzuki and a 1660 Lund with a 50 HP Honda. I have others but those are the two I use the most right now.

They're entry level boats. I never look at the name on the side when I'm fishing and having fun. A guy doesn't need to spend a fortune on names to catch fish. It's a choice.

I have a 2013 16' Pro Deep V and really like it. Bought it used in 2019 and never had an issue. Has a 75HP Optimax on it and will do mid-30's fully fuled and loaded. I've had it on big lakes and it handles rough water fine. As some here have said, it's an entry level boat but has lots of storage, rod lockers, and a big livewell. Guess it depends on what you're looking for. I've been eyeing the Tracker 19' Tournament Edition with the 150 HP fourstroke Merc on it. When grey fox reach $50.00 I'm gonna get me one. :-)

What I see around here is people buy them are really pleased with them, fish out of them for a while and are really pleased with them and then when they go to the local bass tournaments and can't do the big hole shots at the start of the tournament and run down the lake at 70 or 80 miles per hour they suddenly become unhappy with them. They don't usually get one of the higher end aluminum fishing boats but go straight to a full bore bass boat like a Nitro, Bullet or a Ranger. It is kind of a keeping up with the Jones's type thing or at least it seems to be. I have a buddy that has one of the pro 17s and absolutely loves it but he just likes to fish he doesn't do the whole tournament thing and is not just a bass angler he will go after walleye, crappie, catfish, or whatever is biting at the time.

I only bass fish in ponds. My boat tops out at about 28 MPH with two people in it. Not near fast enough to catch lake bass. But then its a tracker grizzly. So likely its a miracle its lasted the 20 plus years I have owned it without springing any leaks.

I repaired fiberglass & aluminum boats for years. Tracker is not what I would call a quality manufacturer. Entry level comes to mind !
