Just received some new squirrel traps from Duke Traps. These are for California ground squirrels. I have Safeguards, Tomahawks, and several other brands but these fit the bill when setting out mass quantities of traps. Some farms might get 50 or more. I also had two dozen of the 450 pro’s shipped to try. I have a bunch of the 650’s and they are good traps for what I do.

Ok, here we go, going to be a long night putting brands on and double checking everything adjusting so forth. I would like to figure out some adjustments on the trip rod and door catch. I have ordered these in the past and knew what I was getting. For the price and quantity I need hard to beat.

We have a few of those. I think we picked them up because of the price, lol. Why not try them? I think they were well received.

I really prefer the safeguards in this trap size. But for the price it’s hard to justify them, somewhere around 5 x’s the price. I would like to buy made in the USA, but the farmers won’t pay more for me to support that. These are made in Vietnam not China, I guess at least it’s a little better.

They seem like a pretty sturdy trap. I wouldn’t expect them to wear out any time soon.

We don’t bait trap much, only mice, really. Most of our squirrel jobs are them living in a house, so posi setting the hole works. If we need to trap their path, sometimes we’ll bait squirrels. Our pile of tube traps looks like your pile of green traps, lol. They’re being replaced too. WCS has a new tube with adjustable pan tension. We’ve been able to use it on reds.

Squirrel jobs are nice. Quick and high dollar for the amount of time and work.

I’m baiting these ground squirrels, they love the crack corn. Once I’m out of an orchard they will gain three to five rows of nuts, some farmers believe these squirrels girdle the filbert trees too, I’m not 100% sure that’s what’s doing it but I’ll go with it for them. That’s a lot of nuts to gain. And word starts spreading. Have thought about dieing the corn hot pink the Locklear way so people don’t know what I’m using but always run out of time.

They are well built, but I feel the triggers can be a little stiff

Iowa,
Bend the door catch downward to lighten the pan tension and always check by pushing down on the pan opposite the rod

I bend and cut the door release, depending on pan height off the pan
