Turns out we needed a new water heater, guess how much it cost us? (I get hammered if I say "hot water heater").
I got myself a seniors' GPS. Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination, it tells me why I wanted to go there.

I had a Commercial grade 50 gallon installed outside for $2400. No more leaks in my home or lack of hot water. Sarge

Electric, installed by plumber, don't know how many gallons, it looks like a typical heater.

Cost us $1,400. Our plumber has to travel about 30 miles one way. There are other plumbers closer but I usually have to wait a week or more for them to come, if they come. I got tired of trying to get a local for our plumbing needs, this plumber comes rather quickly, he is a young fellow that also has a landscaping business. My wife called him yesterday afternoon and he was here today.

I paid about $1,000 to have a new electric water heater installed two years ago. They have to have that expansion tank on them now.
Eh...wot?

I paid $550 per 50 gallon electric water heater at Lowes. AO Smiths. Plus you get a military/veteran discount. Paid the plumber $500 to install both. $1600 total for 2 installed. Unless an odd style or hard to reach you can put a water heater in in about 15 minutes after old one is removed. Get a compression fitting flex hose install kit from Lowe’s 2 hoses 2 wires Reuse pipe on pop off

Or some states allow a back flow prevent instead. That is incorrect. Our local plumbing code requires an expansion tank. My old one had a pressure release valve.
