Can I make the "hole" be a square? I don't have a hole saw because I broke it cry does it matter? And why are they always round?!?!

A spade or forstner bit for a drill is cheaper, you don't need a hole saw.

WI reg's have a maximum diameter measurement, that'd be one reason for a round hole.

Any measurement your regs say, you can make that hole round or square. As long as you stay within 'square inches' of regs you're ok.
I often make mine a diamond shape on my fisher/coon boxes.

For weasel boxes round is just easier. A rat snap trap with the big yellow pan is what you want to use inside box for the weasel to step on

TILL THAT DAY.....

WI reg's specifically state "The entrance hole is no greater than 1 3/8; inches in diameter" for weasel boxes. Not a square inch measurement. Body grip trap size restrictions are in square inches.

I don't see why not weasels are not particular.

He means a Weasel doesn't care if the hole is round, square or ?.

Pa. Guys: Better check PA. regs. About a dozen years ago I asked my local game warden if I could use the yellow pan rat trap in my weasel box's and he said no cause they were considered a body grip trap. He told me to use a small foot hold in the box.Now body grip reg's in PA. are very strict. The yellow pan rat traps are the way to go but better run it by your local warden first.

Don't over think weasel "boxes". As a kid I used rotten old stove pipe, tarpaper rolled into a tube, milk cartons..........the possibilities are endless. All the cubby does is protect the bait and limit where the animal can approach from. Use your imagination.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Regulation Aftah Regulation...that commie state is ridiculous.

I am surprised you guys can even set a trap.

Do they police weasel boxes ?

You have weasels? They don’t seem very common these days in PA.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Just cut a V in the front and center your trap. Probably the most prominent entrance in weasel boxes from past years.
