Are you talking the orange Asian beetles that look like Lady bugs? If so, where can I buy about 50 of those traps?

I have nothing clever to put here.

We went thru that a few years back. Tried the traps and eventually rigged them to 5 gallon buckets. A single trap would collect 1/2 to 3/4 bucket per day. One outfit was using 30 gallon trash cans....per trap. That is a lot of beetles to dispose of. But that was not the way out.

What worked better was to spray the plants we wanted to protect with a nicotine spray. It is systemic and if they eat the leaf, the plant kills them. Let them have at it on sacrificial plants and trees like the wild pin oaks. Five or six years later, the numbers are way off. What we think happened was they out run the natural control of milky spore in the ground. It takes about 5 or 6 years for that to catch up to them.

What i have also noticed is the ground under or near trees that get hammered by the beetles also gets hammered by moles.........starting about 3 to 4 weeks before beetles emerge. They must be feasting on the beetle grubs.

I used to work for a guy who would fill coffee cans and freeze them. He would dump them and feed a "beetle block" to his chickens every day. I'm not a fan of those bags because they attract the beetles, but he certainly liked them for the free chicken feed.

the trick is not to hang those over what you wish to protect but to hang a bunch of them 25-50 yards away

they attract them in big time and a few years of repeated trapping helps change the breeding cycle.

they are a pheromone trap so it attracts them when ready to breed.

just shred the leaves of nearly every plant in your garden

if you have them bad they will eat a plant to stems only

4-5 are probably good unless your garden is huge
hang them 25-50 yards away from what you want to protect or start closer and work them farther if your catch seems low.
the best thing a village gardener can do is buy them for all the neighbors let them work in the neighbors yard , go empty them to keep them working , you wait till you see your first beetle then set them they are good for about 6 weeks
then need a new pheromone attractant but by then breeding season is over.

We had thousands of them at our lake house this past winter. They are present every year. Have to start setting some traps when they started showing up next time.
Little devils bite too!

Keep the trap as far from your garden as possible. That sound weird, but the trap attracts the beetles from far away. You want the beetles near your traps, not your garden.

I went out and moved it about 20' out of the garden area.
This is what they are.

I have one of those tennis racket bug zappers. I get em with it when I see them. They stink when they are burning.

It's the spotted cucumber beetle causing us tons o grief right now. Millions of them everywhere. Garden is totally thrashed. Every ripe raspberry has 1-3 on it munching away.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

Healthy dose of Dawn Dish detergent mixed with water in a
Spray Bottle
Kills Japanese Beetles in less than a minute
Squash Bugs or cucumber plants and zucchini
As long as the soapy water gets on them there toast

Rose bushes also

You can also use Olive Oil it’s very effective but tends to dry on the plants and can
Cause some leaf damage
You tube it if your in doubt

Don't use the traps. All you are doing is attracting every beetle for miles around. Talk your neighbors into using them and then you won't have so many beetles. Trust me I know!
