You guys all familiar with capstar? The emergency over the counter flea pill?
Sometimes if we have an animal that we can’t pill, for one reason or another, we will administer it rectally.
(No jokes, for god’s sakes)
Wonder if that would work on a dead coyote or fox? Or does it have to be alive for it to work?????

I think you’ve played with too many animals buttholes to even consider this.

I would think they would have to be alive. It would be absorbed into the blood stream but wouldn't move.

I think it would be similar to the poisons thy used use for coyotes.
They would inject them into a live animal and let them walk around for a bit before killing it. Reason being they need th stuff to get pumped though the blood stream and spread properly. Pretty sure that stuff would be about the same well not the blood stream but would need stuff flowing for it to circulate properly

I would never put my finger into a butt hole that's nasty.

That’s funny Guss. I was teaching a guy to skin and he had just caught his first yote and while making the opening cuts and somehow managed to sink his finger deep into the butthole of the yote. Still laugh ever time I skin a yote. Eric

That is what I do and it works well. There are no less than 1,000 lewd comments I could make regarding the rectal issue but I think I will just throw a couple of beers in the cooler and go jump in the boat instead.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Is there a contest for asking the weirdest question going on here on Tman this month that I'm not aware of? grin

If there is, there are a couple of strong candidates for the winner.

If I were you, I'd ask a vet tech.

I guess you could insert the tablet in the south end of the coyote when you come to check the trap, check the rest of the trap line and on way back dispatch your flea free coyote. But do please make a video of the process for posterity.

No blood circulation! The pill would not work.

Be sure to rub his tummy after he eats it. Coyotes LOVE having their tummy rubbed on. The growling is a sign of affection.

Check the archives! grin

Pretty sure the whole ‘blood not pumping’ thing would be the key as everyone has mentioned.
