for what they want for that I can hook you up with an American made Winchester you can have cut to 16.5 or leave at 20 … got 3 20” marlin henry and Winchester… I might have one hacked off That's what I'd do. Make your own Trapper. Cut barrel to length, then file the muzzle off square and crown the barrel. Wouldn't even take the barrel from the action Then, about anyone with a mill can cut you a 3/8th dovetail in the barrel to remount the front sight. I pay $20s at Brownells for a 3/8th dovetail cutter, lasts for several dovetails. Easy job. You might have to file out/enlarge the ring that holds the magazine tube to the barrel. And cut your magazine tube to length. THEN, go and buy a Williams 5D sight for a Win/Marlin 30-30 and mount on it. Makes a slick tree stand gun. I love my Trapper.

Anyone have experience with the Rossi brand? My brother got one in a trade deal a couple months back , I have got buckshot guns that shoot about the same pattern at around 50 yards . We both tote a JM Stamped lever gun in these swamps and thickets when we are after something with a hoof on it . If I were you I would keep searching for a real lever gun or get a HENRY . I have never owned one but hear tell they are fine accurate guns .

The only Rossi I have is the little .410 / .22LR with the 2 separate but interchangeable barrels. It is clunky but gets the job done. If I buy another one it will be the Taurus / Rossi collaboration that is a 5 shot revolver rifle chambered for .410 and .45 Colt. That would be handy in snake and hog country I think.

Thanks uncle but I’ve got a few 20” Barrel 30’s Thinking about going with carbine now … what’ll y’all straight wall men think would be best caliber for deer? ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/07/full-105-223635-fe2a5254_bb00_42f5_93c6_b5efe9813d3f.jpeg)

A hacksaw can make a 20" into a 16" barrel. … you run into magazine tube problems and I don’t want to cut on my good 20 inchers… my boys use them

you could always go over to 44mag as well , sometimes ammo interchanability is nice
I have the 44mag carbine and pistol match
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
