A young buck with an obvious early stage non typical antler growth. This is the first time I have seen him.

A couple hens and their broods have a dust bath at our wood ash dump pile that they just found. With our heat it sure makes a good cloud of dry dust when they flap their wings into the ash.

If it develops and grows a brow tine, and additional points, that may cause a serious problem with his vision on that side of its body.

I have a couple weird ones this year, also - one with an antler similar to the one above and another that looks to have only a double browtine on one side

I agree he will be as bad as a horned Hereford cow when her horns start to finish the curl.

Great pics Mr. Jameson! Looks like that young buck done ran into something, lol. We have several old burn piles and turkeys love them for dusting. It’s crazy seeing a dust cloud from a distance and then getting closer to see what’s causing it.

I have seen them dust in real time but I have not got one on camera. Grat shot!!

I have a large coal vain at the ranch and there is fine sand coal material, and they use that fine black coal particles to dust in. I need to set a camera up on it sometime.

By the time I saw the flock of hens and young they had been there a little while. All the dust in the air got my attention and drew me to take a closer look to determine what it was I was seeing at a distance smile It was a little windy at that time of the day, had it not been windy, I may not have noticed them.

I went quickly back to the house to get my camera and was lucky enough to see them still at the dusting pile and got off a few hurried photos. One caught and showed the ash dust clouding the air
