Agree water traps bed easier with chain hook up off to the side then on the base of the trap. Specifically a dbl long beds nice just laying ontop a flat rock much nicer then coil springs or traps with chain center located on base. And they don't dig into your knee/thigh when setting.

While it doesn't bother me, I know plenty of people including my father that try to buy 100% American. I agree would be nice to buy 100% American or see more of it for that matter but even the so called 100% American made isn’t much of a thing anymore being most products are made with imported materials these days or made with things such as machines not made in America. I myself run a machine shop that does high production manufacturing Machining parts that go to things from Mossberg guns to GM car parts. One would say it’s American made being pressed or stamped then machined here but the sad news is some of the powdered or materials for such parts came from over seas but it still goes in a box that states American made. So imo American made isn’t what it was back in the day nor do we live in time where that would be a thing ever again for running a business in the machining manufacturing industry shows you real quick how todays work force or the next generation of work force simply isn’t up to the task or wants to be. A lot of work isn’t just sent over seas or down south of us do to greed and cost a lot of it is due to lack of work force for a lot of big businesses know they’d still get a premium price and the products would sale if made and produced here not all some are greed and political based decisions but a lot of it is lack of work force, employee greed yes that’s a thing most people can’t come to terms with why they are not worth what others are, and laziness has hurt the American work force hard in the last ten years. This opinion written and brought to on a device of which not American made. Before I get a ton of hate for it I work and employee many that take pride in American manufacturing I’m not saying we shouldn’t support in every way we can but also just because it’s not American made doesn’t mean it’s not creating a job or many jobs here as well or that American family’s ain’t benefiting from it rather be the family own store selling the products or the many of Americans being paid to ship or transport such products across are country. Well said sir

I get the concern about the chain loop and heavy chain on the base plate of the SC, but those features are what have prompted some to quip the SC #11 would hold an elephant if you could figure out how to get his foot in there.
By comparison, on the Duke #11.........because of the way the jaw ends are made, the tips extend out so far they won't allow spring eye to pass........there are reports of guys bending the base plate so far the jaw ends pop out of the eyes just trying to set the things. There is a fix for that, but users should not be the one's doing the fixing. Point is form follows function and the guys designing these things can look at a trap they want to copy and look right past the key design features that makes it work.

They could have put the double jaws on the outside and still have a dog less trap. Poor engineering. I never owned a #11 type trap never saw the need for then.

I tend to be a fan of Duke traps, but agree that the #11 Duke is garbage. That said, I would rather use a Bridger, Montgomery, Northwoods or Blake and Lamb #11 anyday over a Sleepy Creek.

My first question was: is the pan sensitive enough for mink? It looks like it's built decent, but that's a little steep for a foreign built trap.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

It's China the biggest supporter of the US fur market? And one of the biggest thiefs of intellectual property and huge threat to our country.

At least it is clearly labeled as such, and not labeled as Made in USA when it was actually made in Taiwan X2

Rationalize buying Chinese made products any way that makes you feel better. Yep we have plenty of crooks here. Supporting Chinese manufacturers is negative for our country. Unfortunately it's almost unavoidable in many cases. But some try to act like it's OK because it creates shipping jobs here are very lost on their thought process. American made products need shipping as well. At least just be honest and admit when you all just want lower cost items and the saving is more important to you than anything else when there I'ds the rare time American made products are available. At onee time you could find American made products very easily. But more people bought the Chinese junk and the American jobs faded away.

I have no problem admitting I'll buy cheaper items made in China than American made products that the unions have caused to be priced out of affordability. If you want people to buy American, stop supporting the unions that make American products unaffordable.

I was not rationalizing anything. I was 100% honest, the American Government is selling us out. You seem to have it all figured out though. I will 100% assure you if they stopped everything coming in from China, the US would shut down. We don't make much of anything here anymore and you even said that.

While ya'll argue about whether you're gonna purchase traps made in China (while on your foreign-made phone or computer), I'll be using Bridger footholds, MB trap parts made overseas & Belisles made in Canada.....yadda, yadda...

Ya it's unions fault.. you know the people that make enough money to live and have good benefits. Like said above and below US manufacturers were sold out and the people like you bought it hook line and sinker and jumped on the few dollars saved and further made the manufacturers leave the country. It's not the unions look in the mirror.

It's not the unions look in the mirror. Isn't it odd that they can make anything and ship it across the world cheaper than we can make it. Do you think the unions would exist if they were not propped up by the Government for votes? The unions have out lived their good. All they are doing is stopping the US from moving forward.

Do you honestly not think things like , the epa, labor laws, safety requirements we have in the US might have something to do with higher prices. Do you want to work all day for $15an hour with crap benefits Personally I prefer everyone to make far wages and an not negative when I hear of others that make more than I do. I'm union I make $29.33 an hour I'm sure that is a get rich wage to some and working poor to others. I also have great insurance for $51 a week with dental and vision. Yes I work more hours in a year than many hear will in a year and half or even 2 years. Hate on the union. Yes they have their issues but the cost imposed to do business here by government regulations is much greater than wages people can live on. Many non unions people make much more than my $29.33 an hour. But it's unions causing the problem wake up.
