The arctic fox completed all of the five foxes and all of the seven canines. The three skunks pictured completed all five of the skunks and the ringtail goes with my raccoon. I also trapped a mountain lion in 2023. With that, I've lucked into all three felines. The lion is still at the taxidermist. I can post a picture of it when I get it home if anyone is interested. Only one more species to catch (coati), and my bucket list will be complete. 2023 was a good year on the line.
I needed to replace my tractor in the past month, so my next round of state hopping will have to wait until later in 2025. I've been trying to get my wife to add another part time job to her schedule... so I can afford to go trapping. She's stubborn sometimes.
Jim

Nice menagerie of different critters. You must have some great trapping stories from all over the states

Congrats on your collection of species. Good luck with getting the better half to take another job to pay for your trapping adventures; my experience says never going to happen. Lol

Very cool/nice
Off topic a bit...while on vacation for my son's wedding I had chance to catch a glimpse of a coati...much like a raccoon but had a long elegant tail.
It'll be a nice addition to your collection. Good luck!

I saw three of the little buggers on my last trip to the southwest. Two juveniles at one spot and one solitary male at another. I could have shot the adult male but passed because he wasn't in my trap. I lucked into four out of the five species that I was after on that trip, so I was happy with the results. And... I get to go back to give it another try, which is another win in my book. I've researched the coati to death. Foods, social structure, habitat etc... I even bought a book written by an anti-trapping biologist pertaining to her research project.
I get a kick out of using their information in a way that the authors would have kittens over!
If I don't faceplant first, I'll eventually get the last piece to my puzzle.
Thanks to all that appreciate my efforts. While I'm doing this for myself, it's nice when my peers give me a pat on my back.
Jim

That's Awesome,

I read a book by an Anti on her "living with" taking care of and studying a Beaver colony.
....Many useful tips for trapping. I know how you feel.

Jim should write a book about his quest.
It’s quite a feat!

Utqiagvik for the arctic fox. Cantwell area for the lynx. Brooks Range for the wolverine. Wolf in the southeast coastal areas. Both of our children live in the Mat Su, so I have a base of operations.

Great job! What is that white and black striped animal with it's butt in the air? I've never seen one of those before. Is that a civet cat?

DOGE is not coming after your money. They are coming after the people who are stealing your money.

Confusious say, "It's only a lazy man that can't get his wife a 2nd job".

I think a spotted skunk? I've never seen one. But civets are a cat-like animal that lives in S.E. Asia. I believe they are the animals that eat the coffee beans that are then collected out of their scat to make the expensive kopi luwak

From left to right are the skunks hooded, hog nosed, and spotted? Couldn't tell you if it's western or eastern

Just so all can appreciate the full scope of your goal in case they do not know? Aren't you collecting every trappable species in the United States? Can you remind me/us how many that is? I know you are not seeking glory or attention and are letting us in on your progress for those of us interested. Thanks.
