Had one neighbor get killed by a bull in 1985 and 2 others were Injured in separate instances with bulls.the one guys father came running down to my house and told me to bring the gun the bull had his boy pinned down .by the time I got there his boy had gotten free and away from the bull but was sore for couple weeks.the other instance bull had a guy down and if he hadn't had a pocket knife with him to be able to stab the bull in the eyes and face he probably wouldn't be here today.

Last year we had an incidence where a neighbors "pet" bull turned on him. UPS driver found him as the bull was tossing him around like a rag doll. Figured he had been dead for several hours. I help other neighbors load cattle from time to time and after that if he has a difficult one, it usually get's a bullet. Glad it wasn't any worse Scott.

You were lucky. I know of two people who did the same as you that lost their lives. Hope you heal up quickly! One of my grandfathers died that way.

No fun. Punchin cows is all fine and dandy until one punches back. That is why we all should leave it to the younger fellas. 1 they git outta the way faster and 2 if they fail that, they heal up faster. Dont underestimate a 300 lb. Hog either. When I was younger I had a Hog smash me against the boards and my legs looked very similar too that. Ive fought many hogs between 300-600 lbs. you only win when/if they decide you can. Scariest I ever had was being between two 600+ lb tusked boars. I was able to go up into rafters right before their fight took out a concrete wall.

Scott I wish there was something I could have done but it's a little late now. The big whack worked maybe 9 out of 10 times I decided when I was young and working in a big stockyard. The 1 time it doesn't, you need a quick side step and a enough room to make a tight circle because 2 legs turn faster than 4.
I am sure never gonna say I never got laid up, I got laid up enough times I had to developed a plan b and even a plan c.

UpstateNY- a hog has some explosive power that is hard to believe even when you have seen it. Nothing to underestimate.
Anyone ever had a bronc bite down on yer shoulder and toss ya like a rag doll? It happens so quick that someone has to explain what happened once you start coming to.

No kidding up state I had a hog probably over 350 lb knocked me off my feet with literally yo no effort. Lucky for me I was out in the open and she turned out to just be trying to rub on my legs wanting scratched. After hitting my legs over enthusiastic and I hit the dirt I looked back concerned to find her laying on her side scooting around oinking waiting for a belly scratching. Well, after it smashed me I didnt feel much like rubbing its belly.I wanted to put a bullet between its blinkers but the Ole Man wouldnt let me.He said to pay more attention if I was gonna hop in the pen with the hogs.

That looks painful 330, hope you mend quickly. Not a cattle hand here, but I do recall swapping out the last Angus bull my grandfather had when I was a kid. The gentle fellow put his head into the bucket of the tractor so hard when he realized what was happening that he rendered himself almost unconscious. Made it easier to get him to the "back 40". I worked for a crazy dairy farmer as a teenager. Every cow he sold he told the buyer, "That's the one that killed my wife." He told me his wife had such high blood pressure that one day she just exploded while sitting in her favorite chair. He had a bull that was always trying to kill me. Or so it seemed to my young mind. One day I was moving some hay bales, had them in the tractor bucket. The bull got aggressive with me on the tractor. I waited until he was blocking my path, lifted the bucket up and dropped it on his head. The hydraulics on that old tractor were shot and that bucket came down fast. I thought I killed the dang thing and was scared I'd have to work for the crazy farmer forever just to pay for it. The bull recovered and didn't mess with me as much after that, at least not when I was on the tractor. Seen a sow pig stick her nose between a buddy's legs and toss him over the sty fence like he didn't weigh anything, And he was a big guy. I told him he was lucky she didn't just bite a fist-sized chunk out of him .
Eh...wot?

Leftlane I had a 2 year old colt grab me by the ear lobe during a halter class one year and jerk me off my feet . That was over 50 years ago , it’s just now funny. That kinda thing is hard to forget and yeah- way too scary to laugh at for a while. I forgot his name but there used to be a guy that would enter some rodeos and he only had one arm. He was out b4 me in the BB riding and I leaned over the chute to help him cinch down his riggin. That ol Kephart horse grabbed me and flung me out into the arena so fast I had no idea what had just happened.
The one armed guy accused me of wanting to look like him. 4 hours and 5 drinks later I decided I night just live after all.
