Need a new circular saw. Going with corded not a battery powered. Don't want to spend over 150.00. Anybody use the Hercules brand sold by Harbor Freight? Will be doing a lot of ripping, not just cross cutting. Any recommendations? Thanks

Go with the best your wallet can afford.

A real good pro grade saw will give you much better , cleaner cuts. They are safer too as you are not forcing it to work , plus with adequate power your blades will last much longer as they don't overheat working too hard.

I bought this matching pair ( left blade-right blade ) a few years back. 15amp , electric brake , magnesium base.
I paid about $150 each for them. Probably out of your budget now.

No problems , works fantastic , cuts like butter every time.

I was at an auction a couple of weeks ago and there were a ton of good power tools that they couldn't get $10 bids on. Be sure to check pawn shops if you have one nearby.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I've had the same Makita 5007-NB saw I bought in 1993. I used it on a full-time framing crew for 5 years. It's taken 2 falls from two story roofs. I've replaced 5 cords on it because my help couldn't figure out how to avoid cutting the cords. I'd buy another in a heartbeat, if they are still available today and I needed a new saw.

I think good blades help with any saw and I would make sure to use a good one.

Big difference if you use something twice a year vs twice a week. I’ve used the same $7 auction cheapo for the last 10 years and may never need another. I’m sure as heck not buying top quality for something that rarely gets used. And lets not pretend any circular saw is a precision cutting instrument, most of us are using them for pretty basic stuff.

To heavy,,,, I started using 6.5 inch r3204 rigid from homedepo. Light, magnisum (sp) deck and 99 bucks
I also like the blade on the right hand side of a saw.
Left handed,,,,,right eyed,,,add and dislesic.......

Makita 7 1/4” for me. Might have to bump the budget up a bit. Harbor freight power tools are a bit and miss!

I agree! When I went to sheetrock my house I bought a new Milwaukee sheetrock gun because I didn't want cheap junk that wouldn't work. I hung the sheetrock and that sheetrock gun hasn't been used since. I think I gave close to $200 for it in 2000. Buy the quality that you need.

I've got two of these saws and I make a living with em, tough and affordable.
