SO..We went to mt hope ohio on wedsnesday to take an overflow of roosters i was tired of feeding to the auction and.like we usually do and we happened upon an or orchard

Long story short they wanted 27.95 a half bushel by the time he and I got done talking we got em.for 15.00 a box.(30 a.bushel)
They're going for 68 a bushel at our local produce markets.

Jerrys boss paid 56 a bushel last weekend at an orchard.

We sold our first load and are on the way back to Ohio to pick up more..this time we're buying a whole skid of them and I got em for 14 a box( half bushel) so we're gonna make 2.00 more dollars a bushel this trip

I have 75% spoken for and we're meeting the buyers in ripley when we get back.

People are happy as heck and we're making good money.

Probably the other peach sellers ain't too happy but they can come.buy all ours and we'll go home and they can sell em for what they want to.lol

This is a pic.of a half bushel. [Linked Image]

They're number ones..good sized and sweet as all get out.

Im.not working a "regular" job right now(just one day a week) so this is what we've come up with to supplement our income.

Well make more.money at this than i wpuld working anyhow and it's a ton more fun.

We are gonna be getting and selling bushels of apples too if I ca talk the guy into a good deal for us today if we buy a whole truckload at a time.lol

Thanks to jerry for bankrolling the operation.

After he gets his money back we'll still have done pretty.good.

It's something we can set our own hours at and do together thats worth as much as the monetary gain and keeps jerry from having to supply me with money from his paycheck.

I don't like that.he works hard and i don't feel.right about taking money from him.
This way its "ours"..even though he said all he wants is the money he laid out for buying them.

He's a good guy. Im lucky(most days) lol

If we have room were gonna stop and get a few melons to sell too.

I told him we can make money on apples and pumpkins too.

This is him just now..I been pickin at him a littlw bit this.morning.lol

I did the same thing back in 1981-82. I was buying them for $7.50 half bushel from a neighbor and trucking them over to the coast and getting $12 Used to sell about 35-40 half bushels a day.

Just picked up 2 boxes yesterday from a couple doing the same thing. Not sure how they make a profit driving 9 hrs round trip, even if they did have a trailer load.

There's all kinds of ways to make money if ya put your mind to it but ya gotta be willing to work at it for sure.

There really shouldn't be any unemployment rate.,imo.
.There's always a job someone needs done that people can do if they just get off their keester and do it. Sometimes ya gotta MAKE things happen
Imo

The buy in bulk.and theyre getting one heck of a deal on them.
The orchards need to.move them.because the always have more coming in so if you buy alot they'll sell them.so the don't end up losing some them all together because maybe they rot or whatever

I don't know what you paid for them but if they got a whole trailer load they probaly got them for 22- 25.00 a bushel

Knew a guy that would buy full cord's of firewood cheap, shave off 2 ranks for double the price he paid, and keep that last rank for himself.
One of my favorite gig's is to take down a tree for somebody, put it up for firewood, and smile all the way to the bank with that check!

Never seen a bushel of peaches, can't believe they would hold up very well being shipped. That's a lot of weight for the fruit on the bottom.

We buy them boxed in half bushel boxes.

It's the heavy cardboard like tomato boxes and there's no been no damage due to weight issues.
He stacks them.5 boxes high.
The orchard had em 8 boxes high.

I wouldn't buy them.in a bin to box ourselves because there'd be alot of fruit damage and loss
