I have never worked for them but have talked to people that have and I don't think it's what you want Dave. The people I knew spoke of long hours of basically running from one end of the warehouse to the other grabbing products to fill orders. I doubt your knee could handle that.

Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

The Coonman has drive and wants to work. I respect that.

I'm not exactly sure where you are with Amazon, but it's a job. Go for it.

Dave, I know people who work and have worked at Amazon. The work pace is to fast for you. The amount of walking needed done is to much for you too.

A security desk job may be a good job for you.

I'm with Keith and yote, it's not for you. Way too fast paced and they would expect you to meet quotas. Beat of luck in the job search. Which place laid you off the machine shop or the cleaning place?

Thanks for advice , I got lay off from other big warehouse a month ago, I made mistake pic orders once an then was clean up cardboard in aisles with Gaylord on pallet an pallet jack, 6 hrs of walk aisles was very hard on knee, I barely could get back pickup in parklot, if call back I gonna change it from 6 hours work to 4 hours with extra morning as last 2 hours was to much, I can't take run from one end warehouse to other, do ok, work at machine or close 1 small area much better then walk all around

Coonman, how old are you again...?

My feeling (and I could find out since here is one here in my city and I know some people who had people they now working there) that most Amazon workers are in the 20 to maybe 50 year old range. For a reason.

Good luck if you get on there. My oldest kid lasted 2 days at Fed Ex. At least where he was, it was way less sophisticated than a person would think and basically brute muscle and endurance. I think Amazon is the flip side of that. Maybe.

Dave, in your case, getting Medicaid or Medicare to fix your knees is nothing to be ashamed of, so that you can be productive again. I don't know your financial situation, but if you qualify, you should have them help you get healthy. There is nothing wrong with a productive member of society, like you, getting help when they need it.

Walmart door greater or night shift putting products out. Desk based security gard like mentioned above may be good for you. If you like putting up fur maybe you can put fur up for people that don't like doing it.

Are you mechanical? You could buy or get old mower for free or nearly free fix them and sell them.

Maybe take a fre classes at the unemployment office to learn computers a little better.

Dave, as mentioned above check out the Iowa FPL % (federal poverty level) and see where your income falls for subsidies as a single person/ married/ or family.

Chances are you can get free ride medicaid, or heavily subsidized medical/ dental/ vision insurance at your state marketplace.

Get yourself patched up now.

I know a guy that stocks shelves at Kwik Star for about 4 hours a day and I think he makes about 18 dollars an hour fairly easy work there anyway.

Dave, I did some searching and you should be able to find out if you're able to get Medicaid in Iowa here:

https://hhsservices.iowa.gov/apspssp/ssp.portal

If you are qualified, you can apply on the same page.

If you need help with the forms, ask someone you trust to help you or you could go to a local office and ask for help.

Hopefully they can help get your knees fixed, so you can work and also have a better time doing activities you enjoy, like trapping.

Keith
