Still weak from 2 springs ago messed it up so bad I looked like a stroke victim for several months. I slowly gained use of it through therapy (work) now I can do about anything from shoulder level down but any rolling of the shoulder or full extension of the arm upward is a no go. I can extend it upward with my other are but the trip down was a killer when it rolled into place.
So last week I tripped myself when one foot slipped off a loose rock on a narrow trail blocking my other foot from going forward I took the hit on my right knee to protect the left shoulder from the full impact. I got up covered in dirt and sticky weed seeds (beggars lice they call them) knee hurt like expected but the left shoulder hurt also but it did not take the hit just more of a supporting role in the fall.
Knee and shoulder hurt for the next week the knee hurt worse than the shoulder did. That fall must of put the shoulder back in place not that it’s not weak but the roll is gone for now still need to work on the extension part but that painful pop is gone I hope for good will see what time brings.

Good luck with Shoulder and knee, sounds like me right now, minus the injury. Just age or a Heavy trolling motor. As far as the Beggars Lice, I hate ‘em. I’ve actually passed up some real good Cat locations because of their presence. ( thinking that the Cats don’t like ‘em either). Years of abusing my body is definitely catching up with me now so it’s self inflicted. I quit anything with aspartame in it that made a big improvement in the knees, lots in drinks out there with stevia extract that not a problem for the knees.

If you get a steroid shot it will help . I put off getting one after I torn rotorcup . after the shot it is bearable. It’s better now must of put something in place the shoulder roll was the worst part that seems to be minimal now still need to build the strength back I work it whenever I can. I Tried my compound bow but that was a no go, I did not want to push it and hurt it again since it’s making progress.

If the compound was sighted in you may only need to fling one arrow in a couple weeks to be done elk hunting, but the walking may give you some grief.

Law Dog, just reading your post made me hurt. Had my left shoulder rebuilt about 7 years ago. Doc said next option is a replacement. No more repairs. Not as good as new. Right rotator cuff is torn. Hurts. Aftermarket left knee. No one to blame. All self induced. It's tough getting old. Good luck.

Don’t know how the painful rolling got fixed but it’s still tender but is on its way to recovery the best it’s felt in the last 2 years. I’ve been able to work with but I just can’t juggle “but I couldn’t before.” LOL
Don’t know if it was dislocated to some extent I just know is way better than it was before the last fall. My fear is falling in that rocky country and injuring it all over again if I do I have a shooting tripod I could use.

Sometimes a bad thing can be a good thing. Glad getting better. I had a locked should last winter and was a miserable thing. Said it would work itself out and take care on its own and it did a year later.

It’s like having a new arm vs half an arm without the bad roll it had before. I work it several times a day to strengthen it up nothing like before on the lowering part waiting for it to pop.

Stay Aware of your Footing.
I hope it all heals up for you.
Ya it’s rocky everywhere out there the cattle don’t help it much moving and loosening the rocks on the sometimes narrow trails we clean as we go when scouting to clear what we can of trip major hazard’s. The trip in and out in the dark is challenging especially when you’re already tired that’s why we do the pre work to lighten the load and keep sharp.
