I haven’t found much else out but here’s an article about some of the things, another reason to keep the price of potash high.

the rails have not been moving for 5 days prior and the grain is backing up and no elevator deliveries
and it's the peak of the harvest
cost 1 B a day in lost product movement

Not sure if it's related, but there were 3 southbound trains sitting on a 30 mile stretch of track here yesterday. Nothing moving.

"A dispute between two major Canadian freight railways and their union is expected to come to a close soon as the country’s labor minister has ordered a third party to mediate.

Negotiations between Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), and the Teamsters labor union, began about a year ago but have been unsuccessful. The railways imposed lockouts on union employees Thursday as they threatened to strike.

“These collective bargaining negotiations belong to these parties, but their effects and the impacts of the current impasse are being borne by all Canadians. And there is an impasse,” Canadian Labor Minister Steven MacKinnon said at a news conference Thursday."

If it’s like here in the U.S. the federal government has some control with the railroad, where as some truckers are independent and the government shouldn’t have control of them, but they do.

Jake just read the article and it sounds like the teamsters gave the government the finger, so this could get interesting.

Yea, shut the rails down and they’ll get a lot of attention. Kinda like the port in Vancouver striking……didn’t last long.

He really did seem to appreciate and support the Canadian Mounties trampling that little old, First Nations woman.

My SIL works for Norfolk Southern and got a text last night that NS signed their new contract before the old one ran out.

There comes a point liberalism has gone too far, we're past that point.

I see they’re forcing them to work, but the teamsters are going to fight it.
