I think he will lose on appeal. I don't think he should but reality is reality.

If they do appeal and win, I hope the guy has the resources to take it all the way to the SCOTUS.

They are petty just having an auto sear and a AR in the same household is considered a full auto even if the receiver is not capable of taking the auto sear. One of many ridiculous rules they come up with, Shotgun News had a number to call to get an unregistered sear years back it had sting operation written all over it.

Need to fall back and consider the term "In common Use" and if the firearm falls within that category, AR's are now in common use, yes back in the 30's before the NFA maybe but in todays world not so much also need to get away from weapons of war terms. Anyone with 1/2 brain cell knows Assault is an action

Interesting. Just like so many other state issues, it depends which state you live in. Anyone with a clean background can get their class 10 license and legally own a full auto.

Tens of thousands of guns are purchased in the USA and ran down to Mexico each year. I do not want a full auto to be as easily obtained as most other firearms. Just my opinion, I know I'll catch heat for it. So be it.

How hard do you think it would be to mill out the receiver, and dill a hole? Mill out an auto sear? I have never operated a mill but I think I could figure it out.

A simple piece of thin metal (lightning link) converts an AR to full auto with just that 2 cent piece of metal I’d never think of playing around with that. A registered one would cost you thousands but you’re buying the legal paperwork.

Yes. Very true. I think the people who break that law know the ramifications are extremely severe. It doesn't take much handiwork to get yourself in a heap of trouble. I dont doubt they get converted once over the border. Technically any limits on guns is unconstitutional, though look at where we are today.

Thanks to Ronnie Raygun prices are outrageous. That was the original intent when NFA was passed. 200 bucks at the time was 6 months wages for many. It was Ronnys goal as well. Make them to pricey to own legally for the masses.

But really what most people don’t understand is that any and I mean any semi auto can be made to fire full auto some easily some a bit harder now select fire is a bit harder

But does anyone here realize just how many gang members have been caught with so called glock switches in the last few years and how few have had any consequences for having a unlicensed full auto in their possession so the criminals aren’t really worried about it because their not being charged with it

Back in 1984 I bought a MP 36 and then later a beretta model 42 the MP36. COST me 400 plus the tax stamp and the 41 cost me 300 and the stamp, today both are worth way more not because of any normal rise in value but because of the closing of the register so no more could be made and regestered

Back then you could buy parts kits out of places like the shotgun news ect put them together file your paperwork and after it went through mill out your receiver and have a legal full auto gun

The only reason full autos are so expensive nowadays is because no more can be made or registered and the number is slowly diminishing as people die off without legally passing their gun on or people just not wanting to go through the trouble of transferring them or not being able to do so due to living in a state where they can’t own one


Really in don’t see the NFA as being nessissary Only law abiding people comply with it the criminals don’t and haven’t for years because there’s no consequences when they don’t but lord help you if you are found with something that the ATF could construe as being against their rules, just take a look at the poor sap who is in jail for having a photo of a lighting link on a piece of metal it wasn’t even the correct size so if you managed to cut it out you could use it but he’s doing federal time for having it
