I know I can research this, and I have but has anyone used a foothold trap as a door handle and or one as a working door handle and latch. If anyone would share their creative way of using a trap for this purpose I would appreciate it very much. A picture and function would be what I'm looking for.
Thank You.

On my homestead cabin I have a #4 Newhouse (because it was a new house) bolts come through from the inside and go through the bottom of each spring. It does not function as a latch. I may have a picture somewhere That is an awesome story to boot!!! I researched that subject inside out and can't even find one picture of even what you have done White. I would of thought there have been many ideas and pictures. Thanks

Look closely at the cabinet door handles.... (Not my home, but it is a talented Georgia boy's home) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/08/full-11603-227893-30607.jpeg)

Best I can do for now Snowy. Look closely and you can just see the trap at the edge of the ddor ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/08/full-3455-227892-door.jpg) White that photo is a great one!!! I have seen that signature photo of you and your cabin before. The handle looks great and that is what I will do on the line shack build. Thank You Sir!!! Swamp Wolf that looks great!!!!

Snowy..........as far as the latch goes.......in that picture you can see a reflection at the top of the trap. That is actually a key activated dead bolt with a thumb switch on the inside OHHH I see it! That is some creativity I will play around with that I idea an come up with something that will be workable handle. Again thank You very much.

Can't help you, but I have seen pic's of a Deer butt with a push button brown eye for a door bell! LOL

I have a stove at the trapline cabin that I made from a third of a drum. The handle is the spring off a #1 LS and the latch is an old Thompson lock off a 2xx beaver snare. Wish I had a picture of it That is an interesting unique stove. Creative minds come up with great ideas in life. Thank You again White!

The Outdoorsmen store in Fargo ND has them at their entrance. Terrible photo though, it’s off google maps…lol I think they’re just pull handles. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/08/full-56418-227908-img_0704.png)

If you are using a house door, just use the guts from a door knob that are hooked to a trap. Off the top of my heat it is just a flat piece of steel 1/4 inch wide or so.

Yep, I'm going to use the guts of a door knob assembly so I should be able to configure it work as a latch as well. I got a couple of old rusty #5 DLS painted black and ready to use them on goth sides of the door. Thanks MJM

Yep, I like to see outdoors. I can't stand being not to see the outdoors. I'm not a person the likes basements or having the shades pulled down.

Slydogx, that is kind of what I was thinking and will attempt to do that at some time. Thanks for sharing your creativity.
