I've got a 10 year old 440 that I keep having bar oiler issue with. Took the bar off, ran it and I get plenty of bar oil. I cleaned the bar, greased the bar sprocket and cleaned out the holes in the bar that let the oil pass. Turned the bar upside down, no difference. Almost no oil comes off the chain when I hold it up again piece of cardboard.

Anyone got any tips?

Also, are the clutch needle bearings greasable with the same grease gun I use on the sprocket?

Thanks.

here you go and you can use a finger worth of grease to get that needle bearing

Tip the saw upside down and look by the clutch there should be a screw to adjust amount of bar oil that the saw puts out. Turn it up a little.

If like mine there is NO adjustment can be made. I contacted the manufacturer but they seem to not care. Nothing that says Husky will be bought here again.

most saws in the last decade have no adjustment for oil

you get what you get

that doesn't mean the pump is working well so check that out as well as the gears

Not familiar with the 440, but I own a 550xp, 371xp, and a 390xp all of which have an oil adjustment screw toward bottom edge of power head. I adjust them from summer to winter and vice versa to make up for cold thick oil vs warm runny oil. May need to adjust the oil output or I have seen the ports get clogged and need picked out a few times. Other than that I would check and see if debris may have gotten into the oil tank and is clogging the port. This time of year I can't imagine the oil being to thick so seems like a clog or adjustment is holding the oil back.

Thanks, guys. I looked all over and found no adjustment screw for the oiler.

I get a decent amount of oil out of the oil port when I run it with no bar on it. Bar has only about 6 hours of run time on it. I'll do more looking in to the problem.

My wife and I were out today and I looked at the Stihl Farm Boss. She told me to get it. I might do that and keep the Husqvarna as a backup. Maybe.

I know the Stihl Pro models still have adjustable oilers. I agree, would be nice if they all did....

Make sure the hole in the bar lines up with the oiler hole in saw.

The homeowner saws are just that, made to cut a couple trees every few years and to be tossed out and replaced. Get an XP, a Stihl won’t help. I’ve run a few Stihls at work and it’s a good saw, but not after you’ve run a Husky of the same caliber.
Dump that 440 and the Stihl thoughts and get a 550XP…….just my 2 cents.

Sit still with stihl. That's my slogan, LOL. Stihl does make some nice professional saws such as the 500i. They're $1,500.

Run a small wire up through the oil port in the saw body behind the bar, there may be a piece of dirt blocking it.

Never mind, I just re-read your original post and see it oils well without the bar on. Must be the bar....
