#1.5 Duke DJ. I've caught muskrat, mink, coyote, fox, beaver, otter, bobcat, raccoon, skunk, possum' and some others with them. Cheap and they hold about everything that steps in them.

Hard to say,but probably the no.4 dog less Montgomery if for no other reason the memories it brings us back to.Montgomery advertised their line of traps with a picture of that model in the mid '70's and if I remember right they were $45 A dozen.A high school friend bought one at a local hardware store and when the ice went out he set it and caught a large beaver. In it,we thought he was a god.Remember this was in the '70's and beaver weren't as plentiful and seasons were short back then.

Northwoods 1.75 square jaw. X2 Great for fox but no longer use them. Now I like my MB550 OS.

This is a question , Are the parts made in China?
you used to be able to buy all the parts at MTP and build that trap for 20 bucks.....\ That web page is gone,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,............

My all time favorite is the no4 victor double long spring. Just loved using it on the beaver line. Crack it open over my knee and set it. Coil springs need a setter to set while in the water. Don't know really why, just loved the way it looks and just seems to me to be about the same as the fur trappers of the 17-18 hundreds. Yessir,,,, just something about cracking one open over your knee..
