Can you tell where someone is from ...in your neighboring states ??
Here in NH...I can pick out the Maine folks...the New York folks...and the French Canidens.
Now does Alabama sound different from Mississippi folks ?
Or does Oklahoma folks sound different from Missouri folks ?

It's weird. As a native New Yorkah, (western, not Brooklyn), who spent a decade in the midwest before moving to MS... down here I find some people have such a heavy accent they're almost hard to understand, while others (that were born here) have none at all, with most somewhere in between.
But everyone here says I have an accent.

Yes. Sometimes it's more than just accent but also the words / wording, or phrases they use. :-)

Don't axe me to describe the black accents because that too has its own variations by region. Georgia has Gullah which is it own language altogether. New Orleans has French, Spanish and Haitian influence. Black belt is different from the delta.

Definitely. Do a lot of calls over discord along with just talking to folks from other boats. Can tell generally what state somones from then what area based off their lil slang terms/ mannerisms.
Odd thing I noticed is some accents can understand each other perfectly while others can't. I know most people I've talked to from Boston can perfectly understand me and I them but everyone else is lost in the sauce. West Texas vs East Texas vs North and South Texas is definitely a thing too. Louisiana and Mississippi? Can tell if someone is from New Orleans right off the bat.same if there from north MS vs by the coast..more by their language then accents.
Round the world , boi the same French Canadians are easy , Scandinavians, had to explain but not hard to pick out a swede from a Norwegian the people over in the balkens are a bit more tricky.... Aussies eghhh and don't get me started about those in the UK

I sound like a hick n a half on recording or when I catch myself talkin….. I have a uncle and cousins down in PA and always thought they had a accent. They deny the existence of this PA accent but I hear it from many down there.

The Mon Valley folks in PA have a distinct accent. There's some sections of SWPA that have odd ways of saying words. Keller for color. etc. Same with the difference between the Philly area and the rest of the world. Wooter for water. Plus Philly area people almost sound like Jerseyians and New York citians.
Up where I live the hard pronounce the ooh sound in certain words.
Ofcourse Pittsburghers have a very distinct way of talking, We're going Dahn Tahn to get some Tahn Tahlk bread, Yinz coming with? Then we're going to red up the yard.

Found it interesting that folks from Great Britain can understand U.S. southern accents more than northern accents...Weird!

Okies say y'all , whereas, Show-me folks say " you ones" shorted to " yuns". There's some others , but I forget. Californians tend to draw out their vowels with a very heavy emphasis on the first part , such as in " thank you ; sounds like "THANK yooouuuu". They also tend to address you by name a lot during conversation. Even in one on one conversation .
