...........are TRASH.
Drifter used one to connect pex to pvc on our driveway less than 3 years ago. Today we had a water leak. In three years, the metal of the fitting just freaking disintegrated!
What are people using for PEX fittings that aren't Sharkbite?

Perhaps it’s the application. I used sharkbites to plumb the water heater. (CPVC) Holding steady 5 years in. Used one to plumb the toilet at the cabin. (Copper) Perhaps. We have them everywhere too, and most of them are holding. But if they're not suitable to be used underground, they should state such!

Ratchet Ring clamps and a crimper all kinds or fittings. I should be more specific. This was a fitting used to connect Pex to PVC so no ring clamping involved. Or maybe I'm not understanding you. A plumber I'm not and never wanted to be, lol

I wouldn’t even put a sharkbite in a wall or anywhere I couldn’t get to it. If this is the type of fitting you need l, gonna require a clamp. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2024/09/full-9686-228732-img_6624.jpeg)

Did Drifter tap it and say “that ain’t gonna leak” after he installed it?
If not, that’s why it failed.

I would say it was the soil that made it fail I wrap them in electrical tape and then surround them with spray foam, but only on the taped area for underground I've buried them, hid them in walls and never a problem if they are installed correctly I've even done hot water heat line repairs with them Not a problem yet and some are over 12 year old repairs

This is the critter I'm talking about. The black and silver part just crumbled away. Is that one rated for outdoor/underground?
