If you are super concerned about foot issues you should probably just stick to dps. I don't know any trap that's going to give you perfect feet every time on land. I have one property where I get paid well to trap coon. I had three get out on that place last season. This year I'm trying Duke 450s...pretty pricey trap for coon, but worth it if it holds more of those expensive coon. Every where else if I lose a coon it's no big deal. Otherwise #11s have about the least damage but you don't want to cover them much. Sterling just came out with a nice looking #11, I would not buy the Dukes. I just would rather use a 1.5 no BS or 1.75 bridger on land because they generally hold everything, and the #11 is a bit small for coyote.... I don’t understand people losing coons in footholds or DP’s. I’ve had them so tangled in a cabled DP I thought I was going to have to cut the cable to get it untangled. Same thing if they hit a foothold on a drag that’s prehooked. Maybe y’all have longer checks than we do, but on a 24hr check they ain’t going anywhere.

I have some Fleming 1.5s and I’m scared that they won’t hold coon cause some guys said they were not good coon traps. Has annyone had experience with these traps? anyway what is the best reliable coon trap that I can find at a convention? I was goin to buy a dozen or two bridger 1.5s but I don’t want to if I don’t have to. Never heard of Fleming 1.5's or any other size. I Googled Fleming Traps, and a trapping supply co comes up, but they seem to only sell other makers traps, but baits and lures have their name on it.

You have almost a half a coon at best down in GA. You see any 20-25 pound young of the year? I would bet I get more 4x and up then 2x and down. The young of the year are always 2-3x unless a real late litter. Your biggest coon are the size of my runts.

Could someone give me brands and sizes of traps? Dukes are cheap and that is the only brand I will not consider That is just wrong. The duke 1.5 is the most used trap by long line raccoon trappers in Iowa where we have big coons. I'm talking guys who are catching 2000+ coons a season. They would not use them if they were not good traps, plain and simple. The double jawed version is arguably the best raccoon foothold trap on the market.

For the money the duke 1.5 is a fine coon trap and you could buy a lot of them for less out of pocket than some other makes. That matters to a long liner for sure. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

For the money it's hard to beat Duke 1.5s for coon. A little tweaking and I upgrade the chain and you have a fine Coon trap for land or water

Doesn't happen often but it happens even checking every morning. Some individual coons fight a lot harder than others.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I was waiting for someone to chime in on this LOL. I agree ADC, on a value for money basis, there isn't a much better all around trap option out there. I can't use them for raccoon (AIHTS), but I get some incidentals every year and even the largest and meanest of the species really don't stand a chance of getting out with a good, high catch. I am on 24 hour check and have never seen any foot issues in coons caught this way.
Just happy to be here.
