I've been watching the game warden shows on TV lately. Something came to my mind the other day. Several of the shows have the warden/wildlife officer checking a duck or goose hunters shotgun to see if it would hold more than 3 rounds. And, of course they find someone and cite them for the violation.
So what if you go in a duck/goose blind and you take three shotguns? Two semiauto or pumps and a double barrel, the two semiauto or pumps are properly plugged. A flight comes over and you shoot with one of the semi your three rounds, set it down pick up the other one and shoot three rounds, put it down and pick up the double and give two parting shots at the south end of the birds? Now no comments about one's shooting ability and all the misses, that's not the point of the question.
Are you breaking any laws or regulations if you have more than one properly configured shotgun in a duck blind for one shooter?

got to say I have done it. but it was a switch from an old 30" sxs to a pump. took the old 16 out to hunt like it was made to. had my pump for when and if I decided to swap out. ducks came in I shot 2 as they turned I swaped guns and shot 2 more shots hitting one of them never read a limit on # of guns you can have.

Its a 120 or so year old law, put in place back in the aftermath of the market hunting days and when conservation laws were getting set up to help rebuild wildlife populations. However, the overall Administrative State seldom ever gives up a law, just think how much coin the various Administrative States have made off the plugged shotgun law over time!!
That's one reason, besides calculus for non-math majors, that I dropped out of getting a 4-year degree in "Wildlife Science" because most of the graduates of my state university ended up being wildlife cops and I didn't see a career or the fun of busting people for shooting ducks and geese 10 minutes after official sundown and other such "crimes". I'm sure Swamp Wolf will disagree with me but everybody chooses their own path in life.

The question should be, who leaves a loaded weapon unattended in a blind or pit? That would be one way to be banished from a club or ever hunting with me again. I have enough to carry to a pit, I dang sure ain’t carrying another firearm. I’d leave one in the truck maybe, but if I did take it to a pit, it would be cased. it sure is a good thing not everyone hunts like you. ther is no way I'm packing decoys, guns, ammo, heaters, stove fixings for breakfast and coffee across a mud fat or fields to pre made pits otr a lay out blind. but I also don't live in a big fly way and duck hunting is an after thought not a huge thing with clubs and leasing and the good old big money civalied crowd. instead we made our own blind on the boat. no packing a single thing it all gets loaded up the night before in the heated garage. put the boat in the water, park the truck, drive the boat out to where the ducks were the day before, put out decoys, pop up the blind, drink coffee, talk & watch the sunrise. shoot the ducks when they come in fix breakfast in-between birds, bs the entire time tell limits are full or we had our fill then head back to the boat ramp, back trailer in put boat on the trailer, make sure gear is secure back to the heated garage to put up gear clean birds take pictures and clean gear. no way I would walk a few hundred yard in gumbo mud packing all that gear to shoot a few ducks. But I'm not really into duck hunting not being in a big duck hunting area. more of a hey have not done that before may as well try it. biggest problem is identifying them on the wing not having any water foul experience.

I am not opposed to a second gun I tend to move a lot more while hunting so it wouldn't work too well for me but if I had a blind and I was already trucking stuff in sure why not leaving a loaded gun around doesn't seem like much of an issue , if your out chasing ducks wouldn't the first gun already be empty it would take some pre planning to have a rack or mount that kept the gun secure in a safe direction I mean you don't want to be the guys who's dog shot him. (happens a few times a year) Match saver https://matchsaverz.com/index.htmlif you have ever seen how fast these work it lines up the shell with the ejection port and you slide your hand back and it goes in the chamber , it gets you a 4th round in sub second it also needs to be second nature to be stuffing shells , as a response to having shot , your eyes stay on the game and you are by feel filling your gun back up and engaging the safety.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Leave to the attention seeker, lol. Yes, I’ve spent many a night in a boat on the water waiting for shooting light. No I’m not leaving an unattended loaded shotgun laying around with other hunters moving around and dogs. Yes I’ve also been in a very nice club and with 6 guys in a pit, everyone better have control of their firearm. We shoot ducks, not have a get together. We can do that while cleaning ducks back at the shack. Unless you’ve actually duck hunted, you have no clue how dangerous an unattended firearm can be in a pit, blind, or boat. But I’m sure you’re the exception and have done it all and seen it all, your post prove it, lol.

I'm sure Swamp Wolf will disagree with me but everybody chooses their own path in life. All that does is give them an education to come to the roost a little later next time. No wonder they all come in when the sun is totally below the horizon line now. There's a reason for laws like that, it's to give the quarry their fair chance to fly another day, and ducks need all the help they can get

wannabee. once again you prove your reading compression is lacking and your mental ability to actually think you don't know it all is amazing.
you make assumptions in your mind add thing to what is written that are not there and assume your the end all to be all authority on all things gun safety and hunting. I'm sure it's clear to most every else that reads your post but I will point out just a fre for you since you don't have the ability to find them yourself.
first you jump to the conclusion there is an un secure gun and its not in a holder. but that's your I know everything mentally. 2nd you seem to think I have a larg group o people and dog or dogs moving around in a 16" Jon boat. no dog and only my life long hunting partner.
now I'm not a big duck hunter as I have stated clearly we don't have a lot of them and it's not big here. You really do remind me of the firearms instructor clip where he is was explaining how he is the only one in the room qualified to Handel the gun in his hand as he has a negligent discharge and shoot himself. I'm sure your the authority and the only one qualified and knowledgeable about safe gun handling o wise and all knowing gun safety God.

A lot of folks disagree with you NonPCfed. Swamp Wolf, you have some empirical evidence to back that up, you know given that we're talking about wildlife science or political science sort of research? And it doesn't really matter does it, because I said it was MY PERSONAL CHOICE not to chase people around and ticket them for shooting at flying birds 10 minutes after official sunset time so that's why I quite a wildlife science degree. You might have thrived on it during your career.
