why do you go to work? You sell your time for a price. I'm beting it's not all for fun.. I'm just a heavy equipment operator and well over 6 figures for the year already. took a lot of hours to get there. Many union and non union make a lot more with less hours and most of the population makes a lot less.

generally most people that the best thing they can find. Got to say the 7 new hires sure are ecstatic and blown away happy about the job upgrad and quality of life change they just got.

As of 2022, 10.1% of the American workforce is unionized1. Public sector unionization is higher at 33.1%1. The rate of employees represented by unions has been declining since 1983, reaching a historic low in 2023 with 11.2% of employees represented2. In 2023, 16.2 million workers were represented by a union, with private-sector unionization at 6.9% and public-sector unionization at 36.0%3. The free market can and does handle unions in a fair and competitive way. The reason the private sector union representation is so much lower than the public sector is because the private sector must compete. In my working days I was an operations manager for a major oil company and worked with both union and non-union contractors and had no issues with either. If unions contractors won the bids, they got the jobs. It is all about competition.

I currently ticked I have 4 semis to load waiting outside becues the door they come in in stuck mostly down

the electricians came back saw its blowing fuses and left. said it will be a while at least 40 min before the next shift makes it in and back to start working on it. So I have 4 truckers just sitting and waiting. if they had work ethic they would have stayed at it tell right to time to punch out.

Trucker just came in and let me know they are all leaving. I don't Blame them but I really wanted to get them loaded and get some more room empty so it has more room for the build up over the weekend.

Some people like to work some prefer to work harder not to work. it's a human nature thing. It's a management failure if they don't demand performance thay typically won't get any. They have plenty of tools to get rid of any slackers that just never even try.

I would have gotten off my fork lift and started loading the trucks by hand.

if you only knew what your talking about. I'm loading the stuff skimed off the top of the aluminum when it melts.
it mixes with Al and gets moved with a loader. your one heck of a man if you can pick up 12 k by hand. besides the loader is not broken its the door and they can't get the truck inside

I was a longshoreman in the early 80's, gave it up, people thought I was crazy. One of the best things I ever did was walking away from that mess of thieves and other low-lifes.

Was in a union long time ago, union wanted $1 and hour raise each year for three years. This was when a good wage was $5 per hour, which what I was making. Also got quarterly bonus was around $500.00 for damage control. Company offered .50 cents per hour each year for three years, the union walked because leadership said the company would cave. A year later settled strike for .55 cents more per hour first year, then .50 cents for the next two years. The union also requested damage bonus be payed monthly, first check was under $10.00. I quit shortly there after. no employee should be able to tell an owner of a business or company how much they should be payed with the threat of striking if they don't get their way. Not all sunshine and roses.

nothing makes an owner of a company not able to to lock them out and bring in non union workers.

the bean counters figure in the labor cost before signing the contracts.

It's nice to be able to negotiate your own raises and not have to rely on a group.
