I want to darken this cauldron without paint. What would you use?

There used to be black trap dye chrystals… I’m not sure if it’s still available.. but that stuff would make traps so dark you’d worry about them stealing your rims

Display. It's too big for cooking. I've always wanted one just because.

Mine looked like that when I got it. I spent some time getting it cleaned up (wire wheel on a drill) then seasoned it like any other cast iron. It's black and shiny now and gets used to make scrapple every year.

If it's for display only just paint it.

I filled it with walnuts and then with water. The water is black so it's bound to do some good. I'll keep messing with it.

I've used walnut shells and they work. Something else that worked for me was sumac berries.
