Never used dogwood before, can I soak the traps in the dye for a week without boiling or is boiling better? I don't have a metal container large enough to boil all my traps at the Same time

I boiled my traps 6 at a time for many years when I was young. Took a long time but not a large pot. Never cold soaked a bunch at a time but have done a couple for two days with logwood with good results

Half of a metal barrel over an open fire will dye quite a few traps at once
I always let my traps cool down after boiling and then skim the crap off of the top of the water

They will rust rather quickly when removed if just soaked in the dye and not brought to a boil
