I'm going to add non poisonous mice and rat control to my service. I like snap traps inside boxes.i build.
Questions are..what do.you charge for initial set up and monitoring. Then what and how often for trap checks?
I have had a few customers want removal but don't want poison around their kids and.pets.
Thanks, Sarge

I did some covert research in my area to find out what the competitors were charging. A Big company that starts with "O" was charging 220 setup plus 90 monthly. Now that includes bait stations/poison so consider that.

What I do is assuming the customer is in my home county I charge $175-200 for initial treatment including sealing up holes around the foundation and setting traps inside the house. Also built boxes to house snap traps outside the house like you mentioned. Then I leave it up to the customer if they want to monitor traps or have me come back and do it. If I come back, it would be $40-$70 per visit depending on size of property and ease of access (climbing on my stomach in a crawl space/attic for example). Consider your miles and time value for the return trips. mouse traps don't cost that much so I set it HEAVY to make sure they get caught. If the property is 20 min from home I figure 40 min drive time plus 20 min onsite checking traps etc, so I'm at about $70 for 1 hour of work not including expenses such as miles and trap maintenance. If your area can sustain higher service charge, do it. Some customers are terrified of mice and will happily pay for you to do it.

for frequency of checking traps what I've done is 6 visits over 2 weeks, or every other day. Then charge the customer a flat fee (say $350 for example) for the 2 weeks of trapping. Explain that includes 5 visits after the initial set up. 350/5 = 70 per visit not including initial setup. I would charge the initial inspection/setup in addition to the 2 week service plan to cover your labor and materials of sealing up entry points on the initial visit.

Thanks for the help. More and more.folks.are.going with the no poison way. Plus the thought of mice and rats going off somewhere and dying and then stinking don't appeal to folks. Not to mention the dangers of poisons around young children and pets.
No shortage of mice here.
Thanks again,
Sarge

I do have my pesticide license where I live so I can and do use poison if needed, check your laws it's not a bad idea to get licensed if you can sp you can offer the same services as the competition. Even if you don't often use poison it's good to have the option. It has its place.

You can also really.boost the income.if you offer installation of exclusion vent covers, look up HY-C exclusion products great to block out all critters especially mice
