Looking at the floor I assume you are going to put your heater below the floor? I did that on one of mine and absolutely love it. My feet are the warmest part. Also, I assume you went 4x4 like everyone else but 5x5 is a total game changer. The 36 inch "waste" is perfect for the walls below the windows so there is very little waste.

Windows in a ladder stand?

Scott, with all do respect, scrap this idea and get a commercial built one.

I can forsee many disasters in your plan!!.
Please.

I have 9 enclosed and heated stands now. I can build them for less that $500 including the heater although I tend to scrounge and hoard supplies. My 5x5 stands are warmer, roomier and QUITER than any $2500 stand you can buy. I will admit, many of the very first stands failed but it is all a learning experience. The limiting factor on them is the life of the green treated 4x4's in the ground. After about 15 year or so they start to get weak and soft.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Well, the sun is down...........Those are all old pictures of "learning moments" with stands. Version 36.2 is almost perfect and includes a urinal and cot.

330, you’re better off using 2x6 16’ for the ladder in that case. It’ll be a heavy son of a gun, but strong.

I am curious about how you’re going to place the platform.

It is nice to lay in the rack mid day and still be able to see out the windows. Your "talons" would likely need to hang out the windows though.

I quit putting mine up at "nose bleed" altitudes. If the floor is about 6 feet off the ground, that is good enough for me.

Boy has hunting changed. The word to me is to go look for, not wait and see. But with all the posted land in pa and huntable land getting smaller I guess that is what the future is........jk

It's a safety hazard. 16 feet is a long way to fall. Don't think there is a buck on earth worth getting in that stand for! Just saying. Be carefull and good luck.

Seriously 330, that ain't funny!.
First off, those ladder rungs should have extended at least an inch past the uprights.
I know you ain't gonna listen but for everyone's sake that may use that stand, at least put blocking in between each rung on the uprights. Please!

As a carpenter, please take some advice.

Also looks like regular SPF lumber?
OK, I'm out. whistle

if you soak the ground contact end in a barrel of use motor oil for a couple weeks you might get a few more years out of them

I keep hearing guys talk about setting all the old oil filters on corner posts and the rest of the fence is gone and the corner post is still standing firm

16’, and a rifle, And looking down a freshly bush hogged lane. You need to be about 4’ higher, for less chance of deer smelling you 250 yards down that shooting lane.

Must agree with the people who don't recommend this. I had a friend who liked to "go high" and he was a very accomplished bowhunter. Several years ago he forgot his harness but went up anyway....long story short he stepped over the end of the platform and fell. Broke his neck but lived. Ended up being 16 months off work and will have pain for the rest of his life.

Too many things can go wrong with wood construction like that.

Looks good to me. What's all this talk about wall and heaters? A latter stand to me is a platform. Spent over 40 years hunting out of platform tree stands such as 330's with no problems and most of those years I was 300+ pounds. Never used a tree house to hunt out of. Just a platform and sometimes a seat.

Looks good. The only reason I don't build my own is by the time I get material and the time to build them I can buy one cheaper. I buy them for 75 to 100$ if you watch the market on stands.

Truth Snowy.

I have 17 metal stands in Two 80 acre woods parcels

I sold my Beef cows and 9 acres of my 23 to pay off my mortgage in June and have been getting ready for Deer season earlier than years I had the 100 rd bales to deal with.

I just felt like building an old school Green treat stand like I used to 35 years ago.

not a need, just felt like it. Thanks for the compliment.

I enjoy building my own of anything and to use. It is very rewarding and fun to make and use the product one builds. I'm with you 100% and have a great hunting season.

You were 35 years younger back then. I bet it won't be as much fun as you remember.

So anyway, can I have your traps when you splat?

I don’t understand all the negativity? Seriously. I understand we all need to be safe and also look out for one another, but The stand looks well constructed and safe if attached properly. Honestly I think I’d trust 330s construction if that stand probably more than the welds and chinesium steel on the $75 no room for your feet ladder stand you can buy. I grew up hunting in stands built completely of pieces of ash trees growing where we built the stands. Made the ladders out of the ash too trimmed down with a hatchet to a flat face. All nailed, no fancy screws like nowadays. The stands were perfectly safe for or least a handful of years or more and then needed some TLC and fixin. Anyways, be safe 330 and shoot em up! Happy trapping! ScottW

Thanks...I sat in Stands like that too Scott W. I was younger sure but I remember taking one out of the chamber, putting my Rifle on over my back literally Sometimes shimmying up to Limb stands as you said. no thought of harnesses back then either. We lived.

Thanks for your common sense comments

Cool, but way too elaborate for me. I can't find my sketch now, but I posted a pic. of it a couple years back.

Picture this:

Three saplings aprox 3" dia growing a couple feet apart. These are the uprights. cut a few more a foot or two longer the distance between them. Using paracord lash one onto two of the uprights, a foot or so above the ground. then another, a bit above from one of those uprights to another. go as high as what makes sense on the site.
the last crossmember is the seat.

There is your stand. Customize it or abandon it, as you see fit.

Even if I found my sketch I would not post it again. Way too scary for you sissys.

The vertical load strength of a 2x4 is 1,000/lbs and 300 /lbs. on edge- if the bottom of the stand is 4' from the tree, the gussets you have will redistribute the load. I would add another (shorter) gusset set from base to ladder to reduce your fulcrum point. Looks solid
