A man I worked with who is long since retired and passed away told me when he was in the military, he met some guys wherever he was stationed who hunted possums and caught them alive. They took them back to their farm and kept them in a pen and fed them a better quality of food. He said after a couple weeks the possum got cleaned out and slicked up and looked lots different than when he was caught. Then they were butchered and eaten.

If you ever seen one of those thing crawl out of the south end of rotted cow carcass you would definitely think twice about eating one.
