For some reason, I've been thinking of people I'll probably never see again. Not in a morbid, depressing or "I'm dieing" way, just the reality that we'll probably not see each other again.
I can think of relatives, people I've known throughout the years, former coworkers and people I really don't like anyway. Some I would like to see and talk with again. Some, I'm OK with.
You ever done this?

You ever done this? Yes! But I don't see how it cannot be in a morbid or depressing way, if they're people you'd like to see again.

I have a good friend, Dwight Scott, who moved high up in Michigan, who I'll probably never see again. It hurts him to be in a car long, so Ohio is to far now. I can never be gone from the farm long, because of the animals, so I can't travel that far. He moved close to 3 years ago. We talk probably 6 or 8 times a year still.
Dwight raised a great many of the mountain lions, which were used to restock the Pacific North West. He raised other big cats, loads of rare livestock and rare pheasants too. He's a stout, loyal, Grizzly Adams looking, cantankerous old fart, who's not afraid to knock a crook or an idiot on their rear ends. I miss him and his lady, Cindy, who is a goat guru and vet tech.

I think about that sometimes. I think about what we said/did the last I saw them.
I also think about the fact that you never know at the time that it's the last you'll see a person.
Eh...wot?

I too think about this. I have made it a point when I have something on the BBQ for several hours to give someone a call that I haven't talked to in awhile. Always good to catch up with old friends.

I decided to not sit the bear stand took off drove to our state convention in Antigo. Not so much because I think Im going to croak tomorrow. More because just felt need and knowing none of us are getting any younger. Noticed our jeep wasn't the only vehicle parked in handicap spaces they were full . That new for me accepting that I'm a cripple. Really enjoyed seeing people I haven't seen since 2019 convention. Even if only visited for few minutes it charged my batteries. . 2019 was Last convention I made it to for various reasons. I had a long run of no missing going before that. I didn't manage to catch up with everyone I want to meet or visit with,, just poor timing.

There's some good ideas here. Thanks.
I'm talking mostly about people I have no way to contact or don't know where they are. Some, I have nothing in common with. I have several cousins in the Chicago area. Nice enough folks. I don't dislike or hate them, just nothing in common. Several of us got together about 10 years ago or there about. Most their conversation was White Sox, Bears and Bulls or computers and programs and such. I mostly listened.
Only one of them has ever gone camping. One went fishing a couple of times but he hadn't seen his pole in 20 years. Hunting and trapping were taboo. Cruel blood sport.
None of us are conversationalists. A long phone call is usually less than 5 minutes.

I have thought about it from time to time
actually every year leaving deer camp I wonder if we will all make it back again next year , I got lucky for a lot of years.
but as everything must no one live forever my cousin was the first mad it home from Afghanistan and died in a motorcycle crash. My uncle next cancer , and now my Aunt from old age passing at 91.
I have thought about it in the context of people who are not dead but will likely never see again as well. everyday we meet people we will never meet again so it is more of a were they memorable enough to think again.
Friday was the funeral for a co-worker who had retired several years ago , he passed at 85. several other co-workers passed not long after retiring from cancer or stroke.
it is hard to not see your own mortality in all of this
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Life is nothing more than a lot of firsts and lasts. With everything else in between to fill in.. I do think about people a lot and wonder when is or was the last. With age the numbers increase quickly.

good riddance to those that are losers....seek out the winners for some visits. I think that it is very hard to find people that you want to be around anymore....keep in contact with them.

I think I'm the person that people don't care if they ever see again and I'm totally okay with that. that made me chuckle, I can relate.

One thing is for sure. You can go see anyone you want, if they are alive. You can come up with all kinds of excuses not to go if you try.
