I got it about a month ago....
299 for the equipment and 120 a month. Then I subscribed to Sling for tv channels @ 40 a month.

Initial cost was free, friend had the equipment and "loaned" it to me until he ever needed it.
Cost $120 month
A strong storm will knock it out but otherwise works great I hope to get it. paying for hardware seems odd.

I was on the waiting list and was what the called a beta tester for Starlink when it first became available in my region. I think I paid $500 for my equipment. It was a hundred bucks initially but it's now 120 a month.
I'm still using the original equipment I think I got mine 3-4 years ago.... probably, maybe.
I had Huges net/ Wildblue satellite before this, it was much slower, had way more outages, and required you to pay an installer and pay to have it re-aimed. They were both priced similar when I switched.
In my opinion Starlink is expensive, but at my age candy bars look expensive. But were I live options are limited so I I suck it up and pay it. We don't pay for any TV or Streaming services, so Internet is our only entertainment cost, I barely even drink anymore......
I'm glad I have Starlink, it's been trouble free. My only complaint is that I have to pay for it ....lol

If you loose power, you obviously loose service but if you have a generator and your equipment was not damaged, it will still be operational.
There are folks in western NC right now that have lost all communication with the outside world due to hurricane Helene but with Starlink and a generator, they are still able to use the www and communicate via social media. In remote areas, it is about the only real option for fast, reliable connection.

I'm paying $150 a month since I wanted to be able to travel with it. I was surprised how well it works (better than Comcast). It also is quite forgiving as to how to aim the antenna . If in doubt just lay it flat. I've put it on the top of my boat and has internet while out running The components also seem quite durable, I've had the antenna fly off the top of the boat and land in the back about twelve feet away while underway, it still works, and the router went out the back of a dump truck that had an unlatched tail'gate while going up a logging road, and was no worse for where.
I hear that Starlink now has a $50 a month plan that limits you to something like 50 Gb per month. That would probably work for some people.

How does your signal/data go back out? Do the routers work like a sat phone? Antenna links to satellite, antenna hooks to your router, and your computer or phone picks up via WI.Fi. It works just like your router from home, you can't tell the difference. Except it's usually faster than most home internet via Comcast, etc..

A strong storm will knock it out but otherwise works great What’s a strong storm? Do you mean heavy cloud cover? Mine only goes out during a thunderstorm and the storm is right over it. the longest mines been out is maybe 15 minutes until the storm passed. Best move I've made concerning internet service.
