Checking in for my bi-annual hand wave…So many good folks down in that region…my mind goes back to the fur auctions in Wytheville, convention in those areas and old friends. How’s everybody holding up in the VA/NC/TN triad area? I know yall got hammered in this storm.

Sad what all those people are going through, never seen that amount of devastation in that region in my lifetime.

Some of the NCTA Convention attendees from western NC were able to make it home but some have not been able to get home yet. Over 400 road closures in NC alone. Our transportation folks are telling everyone to consider all roads in western NC CLOSED. I40 is closed from Statesville all the way to TN. The areas of 40 that are passable are being used for emergency and recovery crews. Electricity is mostly out and communications via landlines or cell in virtually nonexistent over several counties and many areas are only accessible by air.

The pictures that are getting out show the massive scope of the devastation. The Sheriff's dept. in Buncombe County (Asheville area) was reporting 30 confirmed fatalities yesterday and a 1,000 or more missing and unaccounted for.

I also was thinking about the members on this site that call that part of the world home I purchased my first Boykin Spaniel puppy for someone that lived in Nakina NC That was a 1000 mile trip and well worth it Hope you all are doing your best as the situation goes on And I pray for strength as the days go on .

Still no power here, just got internet back yesterday. A good many back road washed out near me.
They are saying the new river is having a 100 year flood. Cripple creek got wild too.

Got word last night that our directors that were stranded finally made it back to their home safely. Have not got a damage report from them yet.

Make arrangements with the local authorities where you are headed so you can get through to a distribution point.

QBD, I have a good friend who works for State law enforcement that has been there running security at gas and food drops since Friday. We are good to go for where I'm headed. Eastern Buncombe county

water has about quit pouring in the basement, that mess got fun when the old sump pump quit. sure glad the grandson was here to help.
