I am trying to trap a bobcat with a 42” Timaze trap I got from Amazon. The trap is working properly as I have caught several raccoons, but no luck with bobcat. A little background location is in South Florida and each property has a few acres and I have chickens and rabbits . During the day I let my chickens roam and I always lock them up around 7pm before it gets dark. This bobcat has killed a couple of my chickens during the day so now I have limited the time I leave my chickens out. Thus last time I was home when it attacked but still killed my chicken. But it doesn’t come around every day as there is a lot of area it can cover and a lot of wildlife. I have tried bait like sardines and hanging chicken legs in the back of the cage and put Milligans-Cat-Man-Do around trap and I have camaflauged trap but still nothing. I have just placed an order for some urine and some feathers but Im just looking for maybe some tips. I will post some pictures Wednesday when im back out there. Any suggestions would help Thank you

Bait a live trap with a chicken and leave the rest locked up

Where in south Florida? I have lost a decent amount of chickens, but only 2 from a bobcat, both were early morning. Once I thinned out the coons I haven’t lost a chicken. I’m not saying it wasn’t a cat that got your chickens it very well could be, I would continue trapping and dispatching any raccoons you continue to get. If you want to free range your chickens you’re going to have to trap year round or have a dog as a protector. Cat season starts Dec 1st and runs through March 31st, get your trapping license ($26.50) and hang some snares on your property.

Make the trap as a walk through, leave the back end clear of brush. Cover the rest

X2

I used to live in central Florida. Coon, coyote, & bobcat (in that order) are a nuisance to farmers

TILL THAT DAY.....

I have the cat on ring camera, but yes I was having a problem with coons at night before I didn’t secure underneath them up at night and coons dug under and got in so I buried fencing and solved that but this cat was in daytime at 5pm I’m close to West Palm area

You are on the opposite coast of me, you can get your license online at http://gooutdoorsflorida.com/ or at the tax office. I use to have a fellow trapper’s number who lived that way, I’m not sure if he still lives there, I’ll send him a text and pm you his info if he still over there. Also if you go the snare route, use common sense about other animals using the trail (your neighbors pet). As for the back area clear of brush, I believe he was referring to making it look like a tunnel. Front and back open with the sides brushed in. I have never used that brand of trap, but would be cautious of the door that come down it looks flimsy.
