Im looking to make a portable water pump/tank trailer to water my food plots. Are the pto driven pumps any good? Should i get a trash pump instead?

They use pto pumps moving large amounts of water. 8 &12" hose. I am not sure how small they make them. A 2" gas pump moves a lot of water. 150-200 gallons a minute. How big of a tank are you talking. Are you planning on using sprinklers, just flooding?

250 gallon tank. I may use a sprinkler. I also have 2” fire hose with a nozzle on the end of it.

are you both using it to fill the tank and pressurize the water to spray ?

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I ran a gas 2” trash pump a few weeks ago it moved plenty of water it has the stiff hose so its heavy to drag around but it moves a large volume of water is no time just lots of work dragging the hose.

If you restrict the water exit too much on a 2" pacer pump too much it will split the pump housing. If you have two inches of water being pushed it needs 2" of exit to not build back presser. A 250 gallon tank is pretty small. I think I would look at 12 volt bilge pumps if that was all I had for a tank. You can get a 2000 gph 12 volt for $50. That is 33 gallons a minute and you can drain the 250 gallon tank in 8 minutes and run a garden hose on it. Two inch on that size tank is to large, you would drain the tank in a minute and half or less.
Law dog hat was your water source? I will bet it wasn't a 250 gallon tank.

You can get pto drivin pumps especially for sprayers usually in 1.5 or 1.25 discharge side you’ll want to run about 30 to 40 pounds of pressure they’re charts that can help you decide what pump to use.
