I put one in two days ago...added the camera and OAK branch a day later.

Digging the hole in that dry sandy soil was almost impossible but I got it done.

I have never put a camera on them but have had hundreds of trees absolutely destroyed from elk & deer. All it takes is planting a sapling anywhere and it will get hit.

For me it is a problem, may be interesting to see the big game that hit them though.

Am I understanding this right? He planted this particular tree for rubbing? Or did I misunderstand.

I put water tanks out at each end of a tree planting. Hard to compete with the saplings, but life at the water cooler has been epic [Linked Image]

Scott. What kind of tree did you place?
Snowy, I quite planting trees here. They get destroyed.
Could cage them but I don't want to look at that.

Mrs Langley, yep, as 330 said. Not planted to grow. Just a cut off tree species deer like to rub and placed for a rubbing post.
Cool Pic Randy. Now that crops/ weeds/ browse are drying down, the deer are HAMMERING my water tanks.
Glad you like the pics TD. smile

Here is a pic from him last year.
Kinda neat to see them small bumps on his left base actually grew a bit.
His rubs should be easy to identify.

I like antlers with those knarly bumps and kickers on the bases. I did some euro mounts on some a few years ago. Absolutely crazy!

Sucks when they don’t put much antler growth on the next year eh! I just had a couple bucks show up again from last year and both of them appear to be smaller!! Darn shame! But oh well.

Bucks, that new buck looks like he’s got 6 on that one side?

JP, Appears to be a 6pt side but I'm not sure?

If it is, I like it. smile
This cold front has really got the deer moving.
I'm getting the itch to climb in a stand.

My buck I really wanted to see showed up and already broke his G1. I really think his antlers were bigger last year but we wanted to see what one more year would produce.
It’s all good though, he an old mature buck.
