My thread looking for a smokeless muzzleloader fell flat as I'm assuming that is a dead end. Anyone else have suggestions on a modern muzzleloader? Don't want one of the multi thousands of dollars customs, just want a deer hunter. Was looking at nitrofire/firestick by traditions but would consider anything.

the build your own at fleet farm or the traditions brand you can get a pretty decent working .50 cal muzzleloader at Walmart for 500 bucks or so

I don’t remember your smokeless thread, so I may have posted this, but I know a guy that had one of the savages blow up he kept all body parts but is in pain daily now.

I feel like they may have been discontinued because people but 100+ grain loads of smokeless in them like they would with black powder. We've shot a pile of deer with my dad's, never had an issue and there isn't any recalls or anything

You can have a smokeless muzzleloader built if you want one. I used a CVA Apex frame and a 45/70 barrel. Works great. I had the chamber threaded for a savage Smokeless breech plug.

I have hears these stories a lot. Sad part is I'm not sure it's the gun but user error. Just a little extra smokeless is not like a little extra black powder. it's also measured by weight not volume. Very easy to make a mistake especially for people that are not used to loading ammo and act careless like standard black powder.

I have had my savage since they came out killed a Ton of deer with it even had it cut down for the kids what they were small an used the most reduced charge listed I'm thinking 38 gr of 5744 or maybe 34gr. I would have to look it up. I have not use it since these stories came out but 99 % or more of them are likely user error at least likely in my opinion.

Donner you don't want an expensive custom so Bad Bull is out . that's the badest smokeless ever made I don't have one due to price.

Definitely nitro fire stick if they're legal where you hunt. I have two of them. No more shooting to unload. Can legally have in truck if fire stick is removed and it's considered unloaded. So easy to clean as well with the break open action and no breech plug.

Have a Buddy who had 2 knights for sale, One is a DISC 45 cal the other is a 50 cal.

Find someone with a nice used Thompson Center Pro Hunter. Been extremely pleased as has everyone I know that purchased one. You can also swap barrels if wanted.....

I would go with a cva. Even though our state made strait wall cartridge guns legal this year I will be toting my CVA.

I can have my smoke pole loaded as long as the primer isn't in.

I missed your smokeless muzzleloader thread. I have hunted with muzzleloaders of all kinds for about 45 years.
Then I tried smokeless. I doubt I will ever shoot traditional muzzleloaders again except for where required in our Mountaineer Heritage season.
I have also reloaded for over 40 years and as of now smokeless muzzleloaders are in my opinion simpler then reloading modern cartridges.

There are multiple custom smokeless muzzleloader builders out there. They can get stupid expensive.
You can also have barrels to install on about any rifled action.

One of the best complete guns is a Woodman Arms Patriot, with the adj. high pressure breech plug. I have one and it is one of the nicest firearms I own. His patented adj. breech plug is the absolute necessity for smokeless.
You can get a smokeless Patriot in .40, 45, or 50 cal.

Another option from Mark at Woodman arms is his drop in smokeless barrel for T/C Omegas. I have one of these as well with adj. breechplug. It is the most economical option that I know of for smokeless.
