I was gonna ask if you don’t ever bring your rod with to catch a couple of those giant northerns that got to be in some of them lakes.

Pike and Pickerel.Sturgeon at the mouth where it enters the Abitibi.
The tributaries have brook trout so likely some brook trout in the river too though never fish bigger water for the brookies. I figured there would be some Walleyes and Trout in there.NICE!

I was gonna ask if you don’t ever bring your rod with to catch a couple of those giant northerns that got to be in some of them lakes.
If I want to eat fish at camp while trapping the river,I just troll a daredevle behind the canoe while paddling and pick up a few pike.The bigger pike are at the mouth of that river and at the places where creeks enter the river especially after a rain. The pickerel are caught at the bottoms of the many rapids on that river.Pretty much need some kind of live bait for the pickerel,although I have caught a few for a meal by flipping a couple rocks or logs in the bush and adding a worm or grub to a rattling rap.

It was nice and sunny smasho but a cold north wind. It was tougher paddling against the wind and with the current than it was going against the current with the wind pushing.. A couple beavers for weight in the canoe helped a lot.It is a pain paddling into the wind with an empty light canoe,lol.

Two seasons AG-cold season and bug season.
Thankfully bug season is fairly short.(June,blackflies and july bulldogs))
Actually summers can be pretty hot,but the water stays cool.

No such creatures on the Best Coast,,,, we have sturgeon that are in different pools behind dams. Definitely not lake sturgeon…..

Beautiful camp and location Boco!!! Makes me miss my youth and time spent in central Ontario on Matawa sp.?? Friends have a cabin there and is very peaceful in the fall.. Thanks for the post!!

Boco, I've never lived anywhere so remote that I wouldn't expect to have people interactions at some point during the day. How often do you have folks slip by your cabin or on the water? If you're as remote as I assume you are there, I think I'd automatically have my guard up wondering why anyone was around me.
Apologies if this is a silly question. No never seen anyone on the river or at the cabin.No problems there with people snooping around even though it is only 10 miles from town.The country is so big here with so few people anyone who wants can have their own place to go where they wont run into anyone else.
