Stupid day for banks to close for sure With today's society and work ethics the lazy use any excuse for not working yet getting paid Banks can actually be open, they just can't process transactions because federal agencies are closed. Wife's bank had in person training and mandatory volunteering (required by law cause banks are "evil" ya know).

The only thing that I can personally give credit to Columbus for,,, is that he had a set of brass… the majority of folks at that time thought that you could sail off the end of the earth into the abyss,,, Other than that,,, Columbus was a cut throat,,, he was a profiteer,,, and he did catch, and enslave lots of Indians… took them back to the old world and sold them. I know that the Indians here practiced slavery as well… it’s just the idea that Columbus was this heroic individual,,, when it really is a candidate for a Mel brooks story line,,, The accidental hero Get with a few more of your liberal buddies and go pull down some statues. He was no worse to the natives than they were to each other.

I didn't read anything in there about tearing statues down. I read let's look at the facts of history, instead of the story of history. Both sides have their version, and the truth is somewhere out there.

AND, He didn't "Discover" squat! The Vikings were here long since, and the native Americans were standing on the shore to say Howdy!!!!!

Apology to mad_mike.
I called him out on here for being a liberal.
I cannot find any proof to confirm that.
My bad.
Carry on, brother.... sorry......

Also, they hate to hear about the killing of Indians by other Indians, the taking of their women and children as slaves or to become members of their tribes. The displacement of tribes as others killed them or moved off the lands they wanted. True, although we should not forget that the same thing occurred in Europe centuries before Columbus. As always, the strong displace the weak to inhabit land with the best resources. Humans have done it throughout history just as have wolves, lions, deer, ect. The major difference is that certain populations created "civilization" with governments, scientific advancements, and occasionally a semblance of peace. Those scientific advancements made it possible for the spread of Europeans across North America at the expense of the NA's.

There has always been Columbus Day. Just wasn't a federal holiday until somebody figured out there wasn't a federal day off in Oct, so they upped the status.
As for those that want to dis on Columbus, do they think the americas would remain undiscovered and pristine even today?
Easy to vote your way into socialism, but impossible to vote your way out of it.

Our banks were open today. Colorado aint so bad yet…….. noice!,,, Not bad where Todd lives. Go to the front range or the ski areas and it's a vastly different environment, woke hardly covers it.
