I grew up with pluto as a planet and still think of it that way. But there are other objects that orbit the sun, that are basically asteroids, that are bigger than pluto, and we don't call them planets.

I can understand why the update to dwarf planet , as it doesn't clear the area around it like the other planets do of debris something we could not see before.

the issue is do we now make Pluto a dwarf planet based on the new better understanding of what is around it and it's elliptical orbit or add potentially a hundred more similarly sized celestial entities they already know if 3 more dwarf planets

clearly Pluto is different than the other 8 planets

so are we going to have more exceptions to what a planet is than planets?
