Dr told my wife she is insulin resistant and it could be a big problem later on. She suggested cutting carbs and some drugs. We are not fond of taking any drugs so diet change it is Problem is I started looking at carbs and it's meat and water. I love food and breads this is going to stink especially when I'm away at work.. I want to do it to just to help support her because it's going to be crazy hard for her.

Cutting out carbs seems impossible at this point. About 4 weeks ago I cut out soft drinks again. did that for w years but started again when I was in icu after my son was killed. Cutting softdrinks is easy but the food not so much.

I’ve been low-carb for years. Eggs, cheese, meat, fish, and veggies is my primary diet. I don’t eat bread, pasta, sugar and and limit my fruit intake.

I’ve been doing it so long I don’t miss any of the high carb stuff at all. It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change.

I am 66 and just had a full blood panel done. Other than slightly elevated cholesterol, I am in perfect health.

Eh...wot?

I just stopped all carbs and resorted to eating meat for about a month and lost 30 pounds...dropped all drs meds etc...was down 40 pounds and got covid pneumonia, heart attack they tell me and people told me I was skinny but didnt look well so I eat a few carbs and walk 2.4 miles most days. Im at 170 now with water weight and drop to 165 at times which was my high school weight. Feel good..look ok for an old guy..still do upper body weights. wla..thats it. Been this way for a yr I guess. It is a lifestyle not a diet. 66 here also...leukemia 16 yrs..bad aortic valve etc but still here. Thanks to God almighty!!

Look on Amazon for Zevia pop/soda no sugar and no aspartame I really like the black cherry, root beer, lemon lime, Dr Zevia and the Cola. The no carb is very hard unless your into tree bark and water. It’s hard to give advice on here because everyone else has their own idea so it’s confusing by the time it’s over.

I eat a low carb carnivore diet. Feburary will be two years. I'm down between 80-85lbs depending on my workload. It is the easiest diet to follow. I don't consider a diet anymore it's a lifestyle. My girlfriend took the weight loss shots for awhile then couldn't lose the last stubborn weight. She started the carnivore eating change and lost the final wieght easily. She eats carnivore all the time now too. I think it is also the best diet for diabetes care too. I fit into my duty uniform from the Army. I retired in 1995.

The three main big carbs I cut were bread, pasta and rice.
I eat a lot of meat and veggies. Never was a sweets guy. If I crave carbs or anything sweet I eat a banana. The health benefits of a banana far outweigh any caloric intake

Been 6 months for me now and have gone from 330lbs to 240 lbs. My goal is 220. Pounds come of very slow now but im determined to make this my lifestyle to change for the better. And yes I do still crave carbs and certain foods. The Boss on here losing weight was part of my inspiration.
I wish your wife and you the best of luck and good health

no grain, no potatoes, no sugar. Read labels. Lots of different names for sugar. So look at carbs per serving and how many servings in the package. Instead of bananas I mix the potassium based salt substitute with real salt. You need both. Bananas like most fruit is full of sugar. Fruit juice is really bad. Eating more meat and fish is good reason to hunt fish and trap. I no longer take any diabetes medicine. Down to about 200 pounds. No blood pressure pills either.

It's like anything. It's work at first, then becomes habit. You can do it.

Yep. Iced tea or black coffee or water. Soda tastes too sweet.

I personally enjoy sparkling water.

I don't do low carb but I enjoy Ezekiel bread and fruit in addition to low carb preferences. I found intermittent fasting was so much more doable in comparison to anything else IV tried.

Water and coffee mostly, a little bit of milk. I don’t drink alcohol, gave it up decades ago. The last soda I had was months ago and it was a zero carb soda with Stevia as a sweetener. The Zevia stuff Law Dog mentioned.

You can sub coconut flour for the flour and bread crumbs, and you can just saute your fish in olive oil, you can bake your other meats instead of frying, theres lots of options.

Big thing is eliminate soft drinks, and anything with added sugar, if you must have bread and potatoes cut the amount but if you can stay off them for 10 days to two weeks you won't miss them. Non starchy vegetables are ok, if your starving add fat. Don't expect instant results, even if you only lose a pound every week or two, you'll get there.

Soda? Honestly, if you can replace soda with juice concentrate and plain sparkling water as a transition tool you might not struggle with it as much as cold turkey. My husband wouldn't even drink water.

Sometimes it's just Ghrelin hormones or stressed adrenals.
