We had a cell tower put up many years ago a few miles from the house in flatlander country. Before that our coverage was spotty lots of bad or dropped calls back then. At times we had to step outside or do the splattered fly on the windshield thing on the deck door in that direction during a call. As of late it’s consistently 1-2 bars tops photos are slow to come through or just never do download.

It’s not the provider or the phone I use one company she uses the other one she’s at 1-2 bars also. I even have the Firstnet sim card that’s supposedly will work off of emergency towers.

I called the local phone company, the dispatch for the county and talked with my cell phone provider and nobody knows who’s in charge of the towers. I found some complaint site run by the Government and filed a complain but that may of ended up with the do not call type circular file.

Anybody ever run into a bad tower issue?

Same her and we live in a village. I think the signal strength can be adjusted according to how much the provider wants to pay. You'll never know the truth.
You can buy signal boosters but they aren't cheap.

The service around my house is terrible, and we're in a populated area, I can't talk on the phone in the house half the time without sitting by the wifi thingee, I used to have Verizon and they were good, until they weren't. My son called and apparently Verizon stopped leasing space at the closest tower, they actually let us out of our contract because it was their fault, maybe something similar with your carriers or maybe a service/repair issue....I have Tmobile now on my wifes account, I don't know what the issue is now, maybe it's my phone?, My wife seems to get a better signal but it's still not great, maybe not enough band width for the amount of traffic?

All I know is service was better years ago.

Here where I live in WV I’m kinda close to the Green Bank Observatory. It is a radio telescope. Because of it by law radio frequencies of any kind must be kept under a certain strength. There are all or parts of several counties that fall under the restriction.
Law enforcement and emergency responders equipment have a very poor range because of the restriction. In my remote county in search and rescues and other normal 911 responses they in places have to run relays with radios to communicate.
Agencies have been trying for years to remove the restriction with no luck. Another attempt is going on now.
There is a cell tower across from me about 500 yds. away. If I walk more than about 2 miles back in the forest I have no service because of the required weak signal.
Sucks!!

I’m curious what you think is going to happen. The tower is fine, they would know immediately if it wasn’t. You may not have good reception, but there’s nothing they can do to specifically help you. They will suggest a booster most likely.

No metal roof we had no trouble in the past after the tower went up now we are back to when no tower was there so I’d say it’s a problem if 2 major carriers have poor service.

The reason cell towers have weak signals is because you will pay them for it. I carried a cell phone for work (their phone, they paid the bill) that never worked at my house and decided then, there was no way I was paying for something that didn't work. If everyone dropped them they would make them work. But if you pay them for what they have, why would they spend money on it? I have no cell phone.

Cell service is very iffy if any and sometimes it will go through but not often. I walk around with the phone up in the sky hoping for it to send. I have to climb up high on a ridge to get out. Lol
That is a good thing though IMO.

We had good service after the tower went up years back it was like what some of you have now before that, but it’s going back to that poor service again now. Woke up to 1 bar this morning somethings not right to have a tower in sight and a poor signal is odd.

How old is your phone, might be a 5G tower now and your phone isn't. I had to replace my phone because my old one wasn't 5G capable.

I have a 5G phone with a first responder chip to supposedly access more towers the wife has the other big carrier she has the same issues. Wi-Fi in the house no problem if we answer a call outside we need to head for the house to understand what’s being said.

That sounds like your wif maybe not the tower. I think the wifi is just a repeater. Receives signal and resends it. Probably more technical happening than that but you get the idea Think what can block signal. Metal building metal roof etc.
When we first got on our wifi i was told if you don't get good signal move the wifi. maybe upstairs.
