Election Day should be a national holiday. I disagree. It would become just another pointless holiday that people would ignore the meaning for. The way it is now, working people get home and flip on the tube. All they hear are media altered exit polls that say their candidates are getting beat bad, no chance of winning. With kids to feed etc etc etc.. the working folks figure why go vote, my guy can’t win, I’m tired and busy. Meanwhile, the unemployed, college students and people that work at places like google get the whole day off to vote. Im not saying I wouldn’t vote early and end up in a tree stand all day on Election Day but who cares. We have way dumber holidays than national Election Day annyway imo.

You have to be soft in the mind to vote for a demonrat all they do is destroy this country. What if I am a government employee? I like to vote for more pay and benefits and less work. If thats more important than your family's future, go for it .

That is the common American mindset. Very few people are voting to stop all this deficit spending. And exactly who would we vote for in this coming election to accomplish that? You've sure got a point there! Neither one has any interest in cutting spending or the size of government.

The thread was just a simple question. Did you vote? All that's needed is a yes or a no.

I’ll vote on November 5th. I will take my boys with me as I do for each election. So they understand their duty to participate in the election process.

Voted a couple weeks ago, just like every election, since they put it right during the rut, I'm never home. That is pretty inconsiderate of them. Just like folks who get married during hunting season. Terrible.

A Facebook post my son made, there is definitely some of the younger generations that still think for themselves.
"I spent yesterday afternoon taking bred ewes to the livestock hauler. I drove from North Reno to Red Bluff CA and with 8 hours on the road, I decided it was the perfect time for some JRE.
I really enjoyed 3 uninterrupted hours listening to Joe talk with President Trump. The openness of the conversation truly allowed me to think critically about the topics they were discussing and forget about the propaganda and hateful rhetoric that is often used by all sides of mainstream media.
The route took me through just a few of the multi-hundred-thousand acre wildfire burn scars in our region. To my surprise, Joe and Donald actually discussed the mismanagement of our forests, public lands, and water recourses. Though “raking” our forests is not feasible grazing definitely is…
Donald and Joe also discussed the benefits of tariffs and why so many American industries have died or are well on their way. While, listening to another podcast on the way home I was reminded of the Wool/mohair Incentive. For those of you that don’t know there used to be a tariff on wool that was brought into the United States, the money was then used to subsidize the wool producers in America grew. It was simply a way to make American natural fibers competitive in the market place against the growing number of foreign synthetic fibers, that now many are questioning the safety of. As the tariff and incentive faded away, so did the American sheep industry.
As the sheep faded from places like the Sierra Nevada mountains, West Texas, And the Great Basin the number and size of wildfires in these places began to increase leading us to where we are about 40 years later. In 2022 over 7.5 MILLION acers burned in wild fires. The sheep used to mimic large herds of herbivores who “raked” or grazed these harsh landscapes before urban sprawl and the human population made it impossible for these large herds of deer, elk and bison to exist.
If you’ve ever taken this route, you know there’s plenty of downtime in cell phone service. I got to thinking about how tariffs benefitted an industry before I was even a part of it, what our public lands and open spaces would look like if it had continued, and how many ways a similar philosophy could be applied to so many industries like Joe and Donald discussed. What if? Could a tariff on wool/ lamb help to ensure that our garments, food and fiber are produced as fair trade, humanely, safely, and ethically? Could it be a piece of a solution for our desperate public lands? Could it help revitalize the remnants of a once thriving industry?
My big take away was Donald Trump is the only candidate with a holistic view, common sense, and the tenacious fortitude to successfully make positive change for American families.
These are just some of my driving thoughts. Let’s make America Healthy again, Go vote."

" Vote early and often" That phrase is attributed to William Thompson, The Democrat Mayor of Chicago from 1915 to about 1935. "Chicago politics", some things never change. Yes I voted and took my wife with me.

I'll register to vote tomorrow, and vote in person on the 5th. Same for the wife.
This year there is the possibility that our vote might actually mean something. Not like back in Minnesota.

Both candidates seem to love tariffs. So much for the economics education. tariffs can be good or bad, depends upon who and what the tariffs are on. If China puts a 50% tariff on US made cars should we have tariffs on cars made in China? or should we just let them sell all the cars they want here at a cost to our workers and thus our economy? We'll have cheap cars till our auto industry disappears then whats to keep China from raising the prices? Shouldn't we keep large manufacturing facilities alive in this country just encase of a war? No, alot more at stake than an idealistic theory of "free trade".
