IDYoteTrapper OP trapper Joined: Jan 2024 SE Idaho	I got my first red fox today. Pretty exciting as this is my first year trapping. In fact it's my first catch in a foothold. I set a couple traps last weekend and one kept getting dug up. When I found a scat pile I put a trap below it and sure enough that's the trap that got it. My goal for the whole season was to get a fox, I thought I'd get a lot of skunks or coons before I got a fox. So now that I've caught it, do I continue to keep my sets in the same spots? Or is this a "one and done" type deal if they're solitary creatures? I see people will reuse the same spots for coyotes but wasn't sure about fox.

Maybe you got some lure or bait on your hands that got on your traps or they are not bedded solid. those two things will get them dug up. congrats on your first fox keep then set maybe add a few more sets.

I could have gotten lure or bait on my hands, I think they weren't very solid at first though. I've been watching lots of videos and trying to mimic what they do. I sure tried to find a mentor but when that doesn't work out, you make do!
