How close can you put coyote sets? Right now, with the drought we have had the ground is hard and tracks are few and far between. A lot of the corn crop is still up. Best you can hope for is someone seeing one or on a trail cam. So, you know they are in the area. My question is how close can you put your sets?

You want gang setting about 5-20 yards apart. & Never close enough where animals can make contact with each other.
Without trail cameras, in my minds eye i can picture most coyotes circling a trapped coyote maybe 10-20 feet away???
Others who longline coyotes may better advise you

TILL THAT DAY.....

me personally..as close to each other I can get without the1st caught animal tripping the other set off. then as mentioned I might put another 10 yards out.

Not sure what your question is for sure but guessing you might be asking distance between locations vs between multiple sets at one location. If that’s case it’s helpful to know the general home range/square miles they cover, the boundaries between families and how aggressive you are going after same family. Typically I put three miles between stops to hit new coyotes. But that’s real generic. Might make stops within mile of each other if I know boundaries and am looking at congregation areas etc. Often I’ll look for two property access points for same family but I’ll only hit one until I need the other.

Maybe I can word this different, I am looking at a 12 acre corn field where the owner has seen some coyotes, I have walked it twice and no sign, my thought is maybe 5 traps for the whole field.....there is a fenceline I am sure they run on the backside of the property so i figured 2 there maybe 200 yards apart....my worry is too many traps?? I guess I am asking how much distance between traps on the same location if that makes sense.

When you say has coyotes on 12 acres add passing through to the end. With that being said unless 2 animals can reach one another your traps aren't too close.

I'd set trails and then go back and add in variety. Bad Karma always explained his triangle strategy well and it helped me. He made one hole, 1 post, and 1 flat set not in a line at any worthy location.

Never set them close enough were 2 caught animals can engage each other.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Depending on the layout of the field, surrounding terrain, and available time - I would set 3 spots with 2 sets at each spot, distance apart would depend on what the micro location dictated.
Good luck
