That sounds like it will be very high at 100 yards. I set mine at 1” high at 100 yards and have a dope chart to dial if needed.

My thoughts are if 250 and under. No need to dial. If over 250, it would be a standing shot so typically have time to adjust if needed.

I shoot all my rifles at various yardages out to 400 yds.
Then based on trajectory I figure my maximum range that I can shoot without being more than 3” high or low anywhere in the bullets flight.
Depending on the caliber I may be 1 1/2” to 3 “ high at 100 yds. The faster the load the less high it is at 100 and the farther away it can be before being 3” low.
However what I do once I have my scope adjusted is shoot a 5 shot group at 50 yds.
I save this group in my notebook with that guns reload data for that handload.
Then to check zero if need be I just shoot a group at 50 yds and compare to my original group.
Saves alot of walking to check zero at 100 yds.

I have a 6.5-300 Weatherby Mag which I believe is ballistically similar to the 6.8 Western.
I actually went back and forth between the 6.8 and 6.5-300

I went with 264 years ago. They are brutal off the bench. I have 3 of them and only shot one and have never hunted with it.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I shoot a lot of 300 magnums of various flavors and 375's but those 264's with the aluminum butt kick like a government mule! Dang they are rude to shoot.

I'm just hearing for the comments about .270wsm/.270win smile

Seriously though glad to hear your liking it. Hate no one is really making brass for it as I would have gotten one for my magnum gun. But brass/ baren case availability is one of my top 3 criteria for a new round frown

Lil curious is they named it something like the .270 O'Connor Magnum is it would have caught on a lil better though grin

Works for me.Hold a little low out to 100 yards.Right on top of vitals at 200 yards and a foot over its back at 300 yards.

Am I reading this correct Bruce?
This seems really odd to me.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.
